In a heartbeat.
It simply does not have the economic gravitas to assume such a role either.

In a heartbeat.
Maybe the inspirational leaders...but they are all dead at this point....it's a moot point.
I am tired of seeing America beating it's head against the wall in Afghanistan for false reasons. You need better regional experts. Your foreign policy is too ideological and not pragmatic enough.
I believe the solution to your problems is to make Islamabad the wardon of the Af-Pak region. You could killed OBL in the late 90's had you worked with Musharraf earlier.
India is psychologically obsessed with Pakistan. It doesn't really want conflict with China. A one sided approach is a nuclear war risk. You guys seriously need to reevaluate your S asia strategy.
Your foreign policy make no sense. Usa wants to prioritize the Pacific region is threatening war against Iran??? Does this make any sense?
Deep down you know I'm right.
So nothing can be done then?? Let America due the same thing over and over again for next 50 to 100 years ?It simply does not have the economic gravitas to assume such a role either.

Does not make sense for any one. A soft merger between Pakistan and Afghanistan makes sense. Only way to prevent a war between the two in my opinion.
Usa can offer free trade and counter terrorism support.... most pragmatic solution to the conflict.
Leaving alone and working together are two different things. Musharraf over threw an elected government...USA chastised him.... He ended counter terror cooperation. On killing OBL Pakistani Army refused to co-operate before 9/11.
I am unable to get this article
OCTOBER 12, 1999: Joint effort with Pakistani government to capture Bin Laden aborted with the overthrow of then-Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.[Washington Post, 10/3/01]
I do not know the end game on Iran
USA left Pakistan and Afghanistan alone for a decade 1990-2001. The results are there for everyone to see.
India is a powerful hedge against China - political, demographic, economic. It is not just USA. Ask anyone with concerns over China
So then what is the end game in Afghanistan?? Think it over. Status quo for another 50 years?America will do whatever serves its national interests and that would make perfect sense. This "soft merger" that you mention will remain a pipe dream for a certain segment of Pakistanis, that is all, unless Pakistan can show how that would serve US national interests. Pakistan was well-placed to gain from US support but it lost the trust necessary to keep it going. Those days will not come back any time soon.

India as a hedge to China is exaggerated. If push came to shove India would remain neutral. Same in Iran.
Ask your politicians.What's the rush?
Ask your politicians.
You have the watches. Taliban has the time.So the answer is no rush at all.

No need to get sensitive, be pragmatic. I'm offering a plan B, friend.Yes, that sounds very nice. It's okay. Let's see how the situation evolves in the coming months. As I said, no rush.

Play both sides for your benefit (India&Pakistan). It's the art of the deal. One sided strategy isn't gonna work. Be pragmatic. It is not Pakistan's perspective that matters. It is the opinion of everyone from Japan to South Korea to ASEAN to USA to Australia to EU. Ask Pakistani diplomatic corps.
Pakistani Army has shown little interest in getting rid of OBL before 9/11 and after 9/11. the results were there to see
So what next?
Unification of two Koreas?
Pathetic losers !!
