You're comparing strategic military endeavours that were carefully planned by the Turkish Armed Forces to a project that will f*ck up Istanbuls future.

This project will just make AKP richer meanwhile wasting taxpayer money, will allow America to have full access to the black sea, already has rich Arabs sticking their noses into it, will f*ck up Istanbul's fresh water supply, it will raise the risk of deadly earthquakes and will turn istanbul into an island.

Yeah great project. Totally worth it.

And plus majority of the Turks want job. Millions are jobless and in desperate situation right now. Spending billion of Dollars in a project which benefits only for the USA isn't a vise idea I thought.
I have been collecting informations on this project and i found that every single expert and army staff against it.
All of 'em claim that this project is nothing but for US to send it's Navy to blacksea after bypassing montreux agreement.
And don't forget we have sunken deep in the mud in Syria. Hope will not have the same faith in Libya as well.

To them Canakkale is completely vulnerable to attacked now since there is no bridge or something else, this is BS. In the world there are lots of artificial straits and no country has been ruined so far. Several universities made their researches and examined the possible side effects. Montreaux is a binding agreement because there is no alternative strait to Bosphorus. With Kanal İstanbul, you can show to the ships an alternative and you can close the Bosphorus strait with some excuses as we wish like fake sea bottom cleaning, fake x material leaking etc... Turkey will have full control over straits. Suez and Panama Canals printing money full shift. But we still use 1 gr of gold equality from 35 years back prices which costs us several billions annually. We can force countries to upgrade Montreaux. Black Sea countries will be more dependent on Turkey. This is a strategic project to give Turkey more leverage which we can use for possible break-out with NATO in the future. Don't listen to the fake tree-huggers and eco-bla-blabers. I know them well from Gezi Park. This strait will be digged at any cost.

if ppl want to have trees and forests.. than they should begin to search the right places! inner Anatolia is a place where we should plant millions and millions of trees from ankara to sivas this place is huge and in some areas with nothing.. if there is nothing then fill it with trees.. make extra programs beside the state and let families and villages harvest new trees and plant them in special areas (a planned organized area with many different tree kinds )
