Where as nothing surprises me in the context of PAF China relationship, the time line appears to be wrong. We have not signed a contract yet. It should take us 2-3 yrs from contract to delivery. Why are we in such a hurry. I still feel that we should wait for FC 20. The real question is can we afford to?

According to H Khan on Pakdef, the paperwork is done and the contract is signed. J-10 will be in Pak. in late 2009/early 2010.

Hi, In just want 2 say that may be PAF is planning 2 have about 100 J-10B's by 2014 other than the 50 they ordered which they say 36 at the cost of $41 million per piece includind parts also and may be they ave arrived in PAk and PAF is not tellin it 2 any one 2 keep it secret for some time.

Thank you sir for your much anticipated clarification. 4 J-10As by Dec 2009 is not bad at all. If I'm not wrong we will get F-16 C/Ds by that time as well.

China comes true one more time I guess---these are definitely coming out of their own procurement---they are literaly taking the morsel of bread out of their mouths and giving it to us.

I think we can assume all our J-10s (A and B) will be exactly what the Chinese will have, with minor modifications if any, because a year is hardly any time to do a mass modification of major systems. This means that any major modifications (such as western avionics systems etc.) that the PAF would want to install would be done either locally or by contracting after the purchase. These are just assumptions, obviously, but I think due to the time-line presented above, these are safe assumptions.

There are also a million questions coming to mind right now, but I'll start with the simplest. Will these aircraft be designated as FC-20A and FC-20B?
