His family has tried their best to convince him to leave, he refuses to.. thinks he can change the system.. give hope to people.
This country is gifted with ostriches not people. The millions here have their head stuck in sand while things are okay for them. There are a few lonely stars, but it is not long before darkness engulfs them. Maybe if people start realising that they are next things could improve.
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The reason I share this is because everyone thins they are a few economic levels above what is happening here. But till when, when water reaches the level of mass droughts will you think of water storage and proper use of water, when essential food supplies are in short supply will you think about land reforms, when loadshedding kills someone you know or the hospital rejects someone you love, this country needs a rude awakening. But then again oil shortages showed people what it is like in rural areas in countrysides, but they learnt nothing and did nothing.
Any educated and civil mindset will find hard time surviving in Pakistan. It is not that none exists nor everything is barbaric but sill Oscar has point.
The patience of a person is tested in 5 minutes on the road, or standing in a line, or anything that has to do with interacting with the masses.

Even the so-called elite are nothing but horrible in their collective public behavior, not just the masses.

.
We are a terrible case of misplaced priorities , we need power, electricity, gas, hospitals but instead some whopping billions of sum gets spent on projects like metro without which no one will die or lose their life on roadside. And then the astronomical sum spent is not even justifiable as the cost of that specific project.

But if hospitals capacity will be over used then how can they entertain more patients? More hospitals are what is needed.

the problem is why are they getting heat strokes. Sure it's a little hotter this year, but dieing of heat ? seriously ? It's the water problem of karachi that's killing them...tanker mafia and all...

Tragedies like this are always a combination of factors, never just one: heat, yes, but also water shortages, power cuts, malnutrition, toxic environment, hard physical labor, religious beliefs, social practices, poorly planned urban conditions, psychological stressors, the list goes on.

fasting and water shortage is the reason....that's all.

electricity outage is not that big a thing, we've had that since 1947. I would like to quote here very recent full of wisdom words of Abid Sher Ali (minister for power and water) :

"People don't die of power outages"

Water shortage plus heat wave are probably the main causes....

Itnee severe water shortage hai??

that's what I've heard...

Also, the water is also dependent on power, no power, no water. because water takes electricity to pump out of the ground.

Yes, they may be the immediate precipitants, but only on a foundation of many other factors as I have outlined.

all of those factors were already there. They are there in other parts of pakistan as well....But what changed was power and water shortage.

How "religious beliefs" and "social practices" played out in this scenario...?
