Shastri was the most awesome prime minister imo. India during those times really needed that kind of simple but strong willed leader in dealing with grave problems like food shortages, external aggressions etc. If he would have lived a little more longer he could have done much more in solving the problems country was facing that time. His methods were not only effective but were also quite heart touching and inspirational like asking all families in India for fasting one day every week starting with his own family, He personally started growing crops in his garden and asking countrymen to do the same wherever possible, his coining of slogan Jai Jawan, Jail Kisan, his bold decision of crossing IB and attacking Lahore in response to Pakistan's aggression in Kashmir. None of our present day leaders are anywhere close to that man including modi
