The Indian armed invasion of Nagalim -Part 1 - YouTube

On Aug. 14, 1947 the Naga people declared independence and informed India and Britain by telegram. During the invasion of Nagaland the Indian army committed terrorism and atrocities against the Naga people to oppress them and illegally occupy their land. Naga people never voted to join India, and even today call for their independence.

due to the remote location i m staying in, i am not able to look at the videos.:undecided:
but the topic is very good nonetheless. Naga members, if any , can shed some light here.
based on my experiences (never visited nagaland, thoh), its easy to say that nagas are not entirely happy being the part of the indian union (degree of happiness varies ranging from ordinary folks to the corrupt leaders of the state).

First,Naga Nationalist Movement started in 1918,not in 1947..

second,Indian govt sent Indian Army in 1955,not before that.and after 1947,Nagaland remained a part of the province of Assam..

and for the political situation of that time,I'm requesting to read few more info..

NMC changed its stance several times and it was Hardliner Phizo, who actually demanded the seperation, not other leaders..

IMO India never Supportd the idea of independent princely states, it only recognised only two optionsa, join India or join Pakistan.

Just 24-year-old, Ao, who was then a sepoy, was part of the Naga scouts group especially roped in to lead the Army during an assault. Havildar Ao killed two Pakistani guards in hand-to-hand combat in broad daylight:devil:, saving the lives of several Indian soldiers. [/B]

He killed the enemy with bare hands

the fearsome NAGA warriors .

The british left these small states all over the subcontinent at the mercy of powerful regimes.

The British also left these small states deliberately so as to keep South Asia divided and riddled with infighting.

That said, I think Nagas were indeed not keen on joining Indian Union.

^The people there wanted to be left alone and were usurped by the Indian union. Now they are fighting for a free state.
