When media was given an utmost freedom to report and inform the Pakistani people in the midst of the 2000s, people had hoped that it would become an advocate for rights of the common man, and bring their grievances forth for the nation.
In the light of recent events, have we not only seen the media ignore the plight of the common man, we have witnessed them empowering elements and ideologies that are harmful to the sovereignty of the nation and to religious and cultural values, not to mention sentiments of the people.
It is saddening to see that Qandeel Baloch's dance videos and Mira's tapes have got more coverage than the tragedy that took place in Mastung on 13 July 2018. Whilst the good men of Mastung perished, the media ignored their plight to report upon Nawaz's return to Pakistan. The same media which has called itself the advocate for the common man ignored his voice, what he stood up for, and what he wanted as he died, just for some bumps in ratings so their coffers can be filled.
I urge members of this forum to propagate that: us, the silent majority must rise for our rights, we should not let ideologies of liberalism and extremism criticize or dictate the decisions that we take for the betterment of our country. Folks who do nothing and demand others to do their work for them should not become representatives or advocates for us.
