The Greek government has approved an agreement with the United States for a comprehensive upgrade in the United States of 85 F-16 fighter jets of the Greek Air Force "to maintain balance" against the Turkish air force.

Prime Minister Alexis Cipers said in Athens that 85 aircraft would be sent to the United States for upgrading, including 125 new APG83 radar devices, 123 mission computers, 123 information and data distribution systems and F-16 communications and communication equipment. President Trump and Prime Minister Tzipers agreed on the upgrade deal at the end of last year, and the first upgraded planes will be handed over to the Greek air force in about two years.

Greece is not interested in having its air force capable of "balancing" with the Turkish air force. Turkey is interested in acquiring F-35 stealth aircraft, but there is opposition in the US There is tension between Athens and Ankara because of Greece's refusal to extradite to Turkey eight military men who apparently participated in the coup attempt in Turkey in 2016.

How much will the bankrupt country pay? Or will it be handouts again.

. .
Upgrade costs:
Athens claims: $1,3 Billion
USA claims: $2,4 Billion
First delivery planned 2020.

They (US) know how to milk Greece until the last drop...
USA makes good $$$, Greece is happy and can sleep in peace, Turkey doesn't care. WIN-WIN
