What's new

The Grand Mosque Seizure (Masjid al-Haram)

Yes. Did the world have any major problem in the ME in the 80's? (excluding the Israel-Palestine conflict, hijacking, etc). Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, 9/11 all happened afterwards which caused the problems the world has today.

I'd word it as the Saudis were so incompetent that they had to call two other nations to fight and protect them.

How old are you?

Makkah is declared Peace zone. Carrying a weapon is considered too blasphemous.

The Saudis have Respected Muslims right to makkah and do not perform back checks since its the forbidden City.

The World is at the same Bus Stop as in 1979. You cant See it. Not my problem. And i am sure you are Not drunk

I'm 17 and not drunk.

Have you ever been? Before you enter the city there are checkpoints where your passport is checked alongside your luggage, which I'm guessing is something they started to do after 1979.

Anyway, I can't be bothered so I'll raise the white flag for this argument.

Over and out.

The French soldiers did not convert to Islam for a few days. They never entered the city because they weren't allowed to. The report that they were made Muslims for a certain number of days is false and it was proved by one of the GIGN commandos that later confirmed that the French never converted or entered the city.

By some of the language you are using it looks to me as your drunk my brother.

This happened in 1979, your looking at modern day politics. This was before Iraq, Afghanistan and 9/11.
i suppose king faisal didnt have time to think why his nephew shot him at point blank?

Taking on a holy place like that is never acceptable. If you have problems with the Saudi Government then take it somewhere else... The Masjid had nothing to do with their demands.

Irfan is absolutely right, the military action that took place at Lal Masjid was the right thing to do and those that got out alive from that should have been hanged. Personally I think that Lal Masjid should be brought down as it's being used for a breeding ground for banned outfits. It's just a building... I see no problem in getting rid of it.

I was just talking to my father and he told me that he knew Col. Tariq Mehmood who lead the military action againt the militants. I'm told he sadly died as a Brigadier when he was parachuting for a parade in Pakistan. I guess 06 September.

What are you on about?

They deserved what they got. Countless number of civilian loss was also recorded during the seize.

some sectarian arsholes have tried to put the blame of this event of Grand Mosque siege on Iranians/ shias.
it had nothing to do with sectarianism but it was an act by a cult group that believes in bloodshed and has no respect for place of God.
I know Iranian ayatullahs planned few agitations but this event had nothing to do with Ayatullahs.

the Akhwans was the group that was responsible for the murder of Jamal Nasir and one of its members Dr Aymen Zuahiri later on recruited Osama Bin Laden to form Al Qaeda

re Lal Masjid, Musharraf approach was very apologetic and hostile tv channels like Geo and Nawaz Sherif and Lawyers banded altogether seizing the opportunity to make him weak and force him out of power. I was in Islamabad and saw the entire episode from the start to the end and it was shocking how shamelessly those so called women and men of God in Red mosque lied in the faces of the camera. and then a misinformation warfare was conducted using Iraqi footage (battle of Falujah burnt out bodies from white phosphorus) claiming that as Red mosque. that entire residential area is almost radicalized. they pose great danger to the state sadly Musharraf didnt raise the place to the ground and didnt execute and imprisoned the combatants and their leaders he is same guy who has in the past lead military operations behind the enemy lines in all wars and whose valor is confirmed even by Indians.

coming back to Grand Mosque operation and all other related incidents (sectarian or otherwise). Saudis have shown repeatedly that they don't take any disruption lightly and will deal with it with iron fist.
the way Saudis dispatched every single scumbag involved in this siege (whether he had laid down his arms or continued to fight) forced all future aspiring terrorists to try their luck elsewhere.

no wonder that while the terrorists blow themselves and shoot other places in the world. their terrorism inside Saudi Arabia is very limited. yes there have been some isolated attacks on shia mosques inside Saudi Arabia but the culprits have been caught and killed.

i suppose king faisal didnt have time to think why his nephew shot him at point blank?
of course not. he never had time to think.
he never knew this will happen to him

he was removed by CIA

okay, so does anyone know whats going on in Saudi Arabia with MBS absent from public eye, there's a strange air to the whole thing. I think he has been injured in the Palace attack, some reports were that the King and him were transported to a US base as soon as the attack started.

.
they were al khawan inspired terrorists with Egyptian roots. very vicious extremists
Saudis executed all of them after they surrendered. this is what we should have done with Lal Masjid terrorists
17 got life emprisonment .later released.63 were beheaded.rest died in battel or in hospitals

No French tried to guide Saudi forces but failed and then KSA allows Pakistani SSG to conduct operation under the command of Brigadier T.M Shaheed and probably Gen. Mushrraf also took part as a Major.

I might not have clearly stated it in the article. The two attemps that the Saudis made to regain control with the help og GIGN failed and then SSG planned and conducted their own operation.

Dont be so lost in praising Saudis. Just one paragraph ago you berated Red Mosque mullahs. They too are indoctrinated from same Islamic ideology that emanated in Saudi Arabia. Its the same ideology that fuels Al Qaeda, Al Nusra and ISIS. Other than oil, Saudi Arabia's biggest export is terror. Since that terror is most of the times used as a tool in the hands of Western imperialists, it does not get mentioned beyond muted protestations.

I can remember reading a book regarding this incident. It was written by a western writer.

According to the book some extreme Saudi students who followed scholars like Shaykh bin baaz started to believe Saudi Arabia is not Islamic enough. The reason was the shaykh used to preach that in the islamic world there is too much Haram and many unislamic practises going on. But these students instead of the Islamic world turned their eyes on to their own country. So they planned to sieze the Haram mosque. They hid their weapons in the dead body caskets. So once they were inside and the imam was about to start prayer. They quickly siezed the entire mosque.

The Saudi Arabian army found this shocking news and put a media blackout. Then they planned and attacked the mosque with weapons but failed badly. The damaged to the kaba and mosque with the bullets was enormous and casualties were too high.

So they called for French commandos for back up. And according to that book french commandos fought along the Saudi commandos to take back the control of the masjid. They used guns tanks and gas to win this battle.

It was not mentioned anywhere regarding them converting to islam and I don't believe this is true because how can you convert for Islam just for the operation. Anyway many non Muslim doctors and disease specialist enter makkah and madina even today as mentioned to me by a Pakistani doctor in masjid nabawi. So I don't see any issue with non Muslim soldiers entering to help retake the holy mosques.

Most of the information is secret and a lot of people believe Iran did this. Because it's a good idea to blame it on the shias. This sells good.

This shows how powerful media and money can be. As majority of the Muslims have no idea what happened till today.
