The Glory of the Mughal Empire

.
I dont think Bahadur Shah II is talking about the glory of Mughal Empire...the Rebellion wasn't even a call made by him

I believe it would be more accurate (or fair) to praise Shah Allam II ( and also Mir Qasim as Nawab of Bengal) for trying to fight the British even if failing...

when british gave us independence they also gave independence to 300 or so kings who were given 3 choices : join india, join pakistan or independence.
Smaller kings were forced to join either india or pakistan either by inducement (money) or threat. Most fell in line. (except kashmir and hyderabad the big kings).
India promised money (privy purse) to all kings.
Mughals were not among kings given that option by british as far as I know, so no money.
In any case govt of India went back on the promise and stopped paying any money after 70s.

This is rather shameful, going back on their oath of promise. At the very least , descedents of the Moghul Empire should be given a privy purse, considering all kings in India once gave obeisance and tribute to them.

privy purse was not promised to mughals as they were not under british suzerainty.
By the time we get to 70s we were a socialist country, and special priviledge for kings were quite odd with our socialist leaders. Also govt was running a deficit budget.

once you make special case for one, you will have to make the case for all hundreds of kings.

It's extent in the South isn't accurate.

Southern smaller kingdoms were tributary states of the Moghul Empire. And thus were part of the Empire, during its greatest expanse....!

Had they resisted their mandate, they would have merely been pulverized and taken by force as what happened to Rajasthan and Punjab states.

It's extent in the south IS VERY accurate. The empire uptil 1707 stretched to that point.

@Nihonjin1051
Well not only that brother, but Aurangzeb conquered them and took the empire to that point
Moreover the southern states were already being run by muslims, many of them from the same areas that the 'mughals' derived from

I get that. The southern extent is inaccurate even after that consideration. My family comes from the coastal region of Karnataka, just south of Goa. Our region has never been ruled by any Islamic empire/kingdom. Here's a more accurate map.
