Yes....also army doesnt want 5.62 mm cal rifle.... coz it lacks the punch..... if we did we would probably have started producing pk-10 rifles(pic posted on previous page).

There was a time when the G3 was the standard 762 rifle of the world. I believe the pakistani army needs a new gun

I loved the fact tht in WOT a LMG is issued per squad..... plus AKs,rpgs n G3A3s..... makin it a killer combo.

Pakistan is top 10-15 most powefullest armed forces around the World. Our Air Force is being Modernized Rapidly, We have a spectatualar Navy Force and Our special groups the SSGs and the Secret Service ISI have a name around the World. All this seems to be good, but there is one flaw. Our Standard Forntline soldiers lack Modern Technology and are still using the G3, AK47 and MP5 why is this? We spend so much money on updating our other stuff why leave out the guns?
Fair enough there is a updating plan in 2019 but the War is happening NOW, we need those equipment NOW and we can so easily afford it, the only recent develpment with out guns is the G3 has been given a Grip handle, but that is nothing compared to others around the World.

Both Pakistanis and Indian army have old military uniforms also, even most african countries have a more up to date version and better camo pattern.

The Indian Zittara and INSAS more modern, more sexi, more deadly.

Weapons are not judged by their looks or date of manufacture. All guns are required to fire a projectile and achieve the desired result. This desired result determines what wepon is most suitable for the kind of terrain, war, role it is going to play. Though I would like to see a weapon with significantly reduced weight, more range, enhanced accuracy and better terminal ballistics for a deadly punch, but not just for the sake of "Sexier" look of a gun or for a caliber in vogue. Replacing main rifle for an army of 500,000 + strength requires a huge budget and long time, yet may not increase the effectiveness War fighting / war winning capability. As the major threat is from eastern borders, the terrain there is flat fileds and a filed gun like G3 has it's own advantages. It should not be confused/mixed with an assault rifle.

not exactly, it is prone to jamming but not as much and as frequent as American AR15 variants. It is heavy and not very accurate beyond a given distance. but it packs a lot of punch, home made, cheap, well understood and well established logistics.

The G3 has a high recoil. It isn't fast and only works great on semi automatic. It isn't your best friend when surronding by a wave of enemies. We need faster and slicker guns such as M16, M4s or indeed the AK103. The AK103 is being adopted but it isn't being used yet apart from the special forces. I believe we must use better guns asap, to increase our army strength and knowledge in modern warfare.

Talking about assault teams here, the assault tems do have a variety of quality guns well suited to their roles.

^ You are among the very few who would call the INSAS sexy. Sure it does its job second to none. But sexy ? no.

This is a sexy rifle ;

prone to frequent jamming, requires a lot of cleaning, only very small quanity of dust / sand will jam it. needs a lot of care and maintenance.

G3 is nt that bad
it is still better then most of other AR

what we need is to develop our own Assault rifle according to our own needs till 2015.and then start replacing the G3

Only the amateurs, idiots and Rambo wannabes empty their mags on an auto setting. Usually, for trained men its one pop at a time. G3 does the job which its supposed to do. Agreed, its not the weapon of choice when one's ambushed, but in a trained person's hands its still effective. PA soldiers have solid experience with G3.
Also, even if its time to upgrade assault rifles, its one helluva task requiring lots of money and logistics.
