The future of air warfare: Bayraktar KIZILELMA

Ukrainian engine, will be interesting to see if Ukraine would be able to deliver on those considering their whole country is now destroyed.
Turkey and Ukraine had established a joint venture, Turkey-based Black Sea Shield, in August 2019. Baykar owns 51% of the company's shares, and Ukrspetsexport owns 49%. Black Sea Shield is expected to jointly manufacture Ukrainian designed engines in Turkey. The intellectual property rights of the engines will also belong to this company, namely Turkey. It's not just the MIUS project; AI-25TL and MS500 will be produced for AKINCI's two different block production (click). Baykar plans to supply around 500 Ukrainian origin engines in the long term. Therefore, the planning was shaped over the mass production by a joint venture company.

The first prototype with tail number 01 will make its maiden flight next year, 2023.

In the photo taken with the Lithuanian delegation, the final state of the KIZILEMA prototype is also seen.

Looks amazing. I am surprised at Turkey accomplishments in unmanned vehicles. Turkey will probably improve this or build another design to be a Target drone like the Russian Sukhoi S-70 Okhotnik-B or Chinese DarkSword drone. These drones have 25000kg of max weight, 3000km+ range. They're like 6th Generation unmanned fighter jets.

The aircraft that will make its maiden flight in 2023 is coded as KIZILELMA (MIUS) Block-1. According to BAYKAR's statements, we expect to see an aircraft which its air-to-air capabilities much more prominent starting from Block-2. And If we look at TAI's UAV roadmap, KIZILELMA will not walk alone on this path.

On the other hand, if all goes well , other surprises will emerge around 2024-25. We will see a significant breakthrough not only in combatant elements, but even more in other supportive roles.

The ultimate goal for KIZILELMA is to develop drones capable of dog-fight. A highly maneuverable supersonic fighter interceptor. The disappearance of the human factor and its physical limits in cocpit represents the transition to a new paradigm in military aviation. One of the biggest focal points of Turkish aviation at the moment is to catch this change and become one of the leading countries. In particular, dozens of large projects related to AI and decision/support systems, sensor/data fusion and full autonomy&autonomous decision making studies continue rapidly, either in parallel or independently of these end-system projects. MMU, BAYKAR Kızılelma, TAI TISU etc... All these studies, projects form the branches of a tree with a holistic purpose.

Impressive. The projects are managed and researched at cutting edge level, i could see them reaching the moon with these projects. Unmanned aircrafts are the future. Unmanned, AI, Missiles, AESA, laser technology, stealth will change the concept of air warfare. The amount of experience and feedback Turkey has regarding drones is unmatched.

Turkey latest Bayraktar Akıncı which has air to air missiles capability, AESA radar etc is on another level to the previous TB1, TB2 ones. It has alot of capabilities which will be incorporated for the KIZILELMA (MIUS) Block-2 as you mentioned, they must be testing the capability and once MIUS B is ready then all the weapons will also be ready.

Any idea how MIUS Block 1 or the upgraded Block 2 will compare to Russian Sukhoi S-70 Okhotnik-B or Chinese DarkSword drones?

Now, TEI TF-6000 turbo-fan engine prototype for MIUS! Turkey is covering all bases...

According to this TurDef article, TEI stated that they conducted the design works for two years and that the engine is now in the prototype production phase. The engine will produce 6.000 lbs trust and reach 10.000 lbs thrust with an afterburner. TEI stated that the motor could be used on air and naval platforms.

The engine will produce a thrust similar to Ivchenko Progress and Motor Sich’s AI-322F engine. The engine is planned to be used at Baykar Technogy’s MIUS (Kızılelma) Combat Unmanned Aircraft System. The engine is also suitable for the Turkish Aerospace ( TUSAŞ) Hürjet Project. According to the TEI’s statement, the engine might also work on supersonic platforms.

May not enough for the Hurjet (i mean armed/CAS version plannings), but there are rumors of a twin-engine light attack naval version. There are other TAI projects (unmanned) as well.

In the image you have used, there is no afterburner and nozzle part, only the engine block is shown. However, it has a more innovative design architecture than its Ukrainian rival, which can be understood from the cross-sectional detail. The extra by-pass line must have caught everyone's eye in the first place. In this way, the air after the compressor is thrown to the by-pass and a lower fuel consumption than normal can be achieved at low thrust. This could be a significant plus in unmanned aerial vehicles, for example, where low fuel capacity-long flight times are targeted. Unfortunately, this feature does not exist in the Ukrainian equivalent engine. When designing an engine from scratch, you also have the opportunity to create a product excatly tailored to your needs. Developing an engine from scratch has handicaps such as time and development costs. But at the same time, the experience and engineering achievements gained from the TS1400 engine core show how the TF-6000 project was implemented so quickly. This may also be telling how fast the TEI turbofan family will expand.

On August 30, Victory Day (today) at the Teknofest aviation festival, the KIZILELMA press launch and its first public demonstration will take place.

KIZILELMA, which will be exhibited at the festival, will also be the prototype-2, which will make KIZILELMA blok-0 maiden flight next year. So we can call it a rollout ceremony.

It is very nice that KIZILELMA's first meeting is at a festival for children and youth. Not for upper-class bureaucrats, but for a 7-year-old 9-year-old to touch this aircraft. You change a child's world by letting touch an aircraft, when that child grows up, they changes the fate of their country.

It would be a nice gesture if the mods pinned the thread.

Here we go!

MİUS-B will provide deterrence with the National Combat Aircraft (MMU) against 5th generation manned fighters, thanks to its smart fleet autonomy capability, approximately 2 Mach speed, more agile over manned jets and stealth cruise&communication features.
