I don't think so.

India's pen-pushing culture is only to escape reality rather than face it head-on. I would rather favour seeing our country become a mind in itself like the way Israel is. While it is impossible to make entire India that way, each state or region of India can have a speciality.

For example, northern India become the ace in agricultural science and technology while southern states can be strong in scientific R&D, western region can be an expert in efficient extraction and use of resources while east can be the resource driver; northeastern region can completely take over tourism, services and processes and transform the region.

So in each way, we can have Israel's technological capabilities, US's resilience, Singapore's efficiency and Australia's sustainability.

Pen-pushing was fine in the 60s and 70s when we had more resources per capita compared to today. However, as our population is not at all slowing down and we are not able to maintain enough roles and diversification in employment for our present and future generations, we will need a more proactive and ruthless strategy to come up in the value chain.

West is weakening because of their tendency of extreme swing in social fabric; from extreme xenophobic, colonist mentality to Uber-liberal and leftist and now slowly going on the other end of the spectrum again. I won't generalise it but many independent European nations are actually taking note of this and taking proactive steps to make their countries sustainable and realistic for the world we are all preparing.

We as Indians, need to compete and come out of our sleepy world of laid back attitude and inaction.

Thank God!! We are so safe. It is because we adopted pen-pushing as the strategy rather then other plans which are superficially great but lack long term effectiveness.
