These pictures reminds me of seeing old pictures of Manila from the 1950s to 1980s... when it was still "spacious" and clean.

Actually, it's USS Core
USS Core (CVE-13) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On December 11, 1961, the USNS Core docked in the Saigon Port to unload 32 H-21 Shawnee helicopters and more than 400 U.S. soldiers from the 57th Transport Company from Fort Lewis, and the 8th and 9th Transport Companies from Fort Bragg

On February 4, 1962, the first U.S. helicopter is shot down in Vietnam. It was one of 15 helicopters ferrying South Vietnamese Army troops into battle near the village of Hong My in the Mekong Delta.

The first U.S. helicopter unit had arrived in South Vietnam aboard the ferry carrier USNSCore on December 11, 1961.

Escort Carrier U.S.S. Core (CVE-13) arrives in Saigon Dec 11, 1961

This contingent included 33 Vertol H-21C Shawnee helicopters and 400 air and ground crewmen to operate and maintain them. Their assignment was to airlift South Vietnamese Army troops into combat.

USNS Card - aircraft transport - 9,800 ton sunk in 2 May 1964 in Saigon by 2 Vietnamese special force troops.
This maybe ever called as one of US Aircraft carriers sunk by North Vietnam. Actually South Vietnamese called it with same title as any other aircraft carrier as "Hang khong mau ham"

The Attack on the USNS Card was a Viet Cong operation during the Vietnam War. It took place in the port of Saigon in the early hours of May 2, 1964, and mounted by commandos from the 65th Special Operations Group.

The Card was first commissioned into the United States Navy during World War II, playing a significant role in destroying German Navy submarines as the flagship of Task Group 21.14.
With the USNS Card a regular visitor to the port, it became a target for local Viet Cong commando units. Shortly after midnight on May 2, 1964, two Viet Cong commandos climbed out of the sewer tunnel near the area where the Card was anchored, and they attached two loads of explosives to the ship’s hull.
The attack was a success and the Card sank 48 feet.
The ship was refloated 17 days later, and was towed to the Philippines for repairs.

Well by 1964 it was really a helicopter cargo ship as it was completely useless in the jet age. The US already had about 10 supercarriers with the Forestal class, KittyHawk class, and the Enterprise.

I just want to explain for a misquoted text, by someone.

Not sure whose planes those are on the USNS Core (not Card) in 1960 (French? Scout planes? Old WW2 era given to Vietnam?) but the US was already in the jet age by the Korean War and were using Forestal class carriers before 1960. By 1964 when the USNS Card ( Attack on the USNS Card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) was sunk the Enterprise and KittyHawk classes were already in service with F4 Phantoms.

Douglas A-1 Skyraider aircraft on deck of the U.S. Military Sealift Command aircraft transport USNS Core (T-AKV-41) at Saigon, South Vietnam, circa 1965.Core delivered more than seventy warplanes, docked under heavy security conditions at the same berth where USNS Card was sunk on 2 May 1964.
Most A-1s on deck are A-1H and A-1G. A single former EA-1E is visible on the left that had been in service with VAW-11.
