What's new

The fight against ISIS terrorism

What is going on in Turkey? It was the safest Muslim country to visit and now attacks have become so frequent. Be safe guyss!!!! :(

Happy new year
Do not forget that it is a Muslim country after all. Fundamentalism will take that into its grip one day or other.

This attack is just another proof that our operation in Syria is considered as a real and existential threat by ISIS. However, this is the reason why I'm against any kind of relationship with Arab nations except trade. They destroy our socities together with Iran.

RIP. Seems live every few weeks there is a terrorist attack in Turkey.

At least 35 people have been killed in a gun attack at a famous nightclub in Istanbul during New Year's Eve celebrations.

A gunman reportedly dressed in a Santa costume shot a police officer before storming the Reina club in the Ortakoy area of the city.

"Unfortunately, at least 35 of our citizens lost their lives. One was a police officer. Forty people are receiving treatment in hospitals," Vasip Sahin told reporters at the scene of the elite nightclub on the city's European side, describing the incident as a "terror attack".

There were several hundred people in the club at the time. Many party-goers threw themselves into the Bosphorus in panic after the attack and efforts were underway to rescue them from the waters, NTV television said.

The whereabouts of the attacker was still unknown. Police special forces and explosives experts were searching the club, an NTV correspondent at the scene said.

TV footage showed armoured police vehicles surrounding the nightspot as ambulances rushed to the scene.

Police cordoned off the area about 2 miles away from the nightclub as multiple ambulances rushed to the scene.

Security measures had been heightened in major Turkish cities, with police barring traffic leading up to key squares in Istanbul and the capital Ankara.

In Istanbul, 17,000 police officers were put on duty, some camouflaged as Santa Clause and others as street vendors, Anadolu reported.

Turkey has been on high alert after being the target of a number of recent attacks by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) and Kurdish extremist groups.

In March, at least 37 people died in a bombing at a bus stop in Ankara, an attack that was claimed by Kurdish militant group TAK.

And in June, a suicide bombing at Istanbul airport killed 45 people.

More to follow.

RIP to the victims. The Turkish government needs to beef up its security and intelligence apparatus to reduce and the art terror attacks to the minimum, though it's difficult to completely stop such terrorists completely , However they shouldn't be able to strike at will so frequently every month. Maybe there is a security/intelligence vacuum due to the massive purges after the coup, if so that needs to be quickly filled as well.
All the best to Turkey tackling these Islamic extremists.

How many refugee are Isis supporter compare to real refugee? If Isis wants to carry out attack they Cam even use woman children which they already did in some places. Solving Syria crisis and wiping out Isis from Syria Iraq is important to stop this kind of attack.
The Syria problem is now perpetual .

This club seemed familar until I realized I was here exactly a year ago :(

Turkey’s involvement in Syria.

Mushahid Hussein, well known for his academic work on international relations and his rich journalism experience, said he had reminded Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu while he was visiting Islamabad about “Pakistanization syndrome.” Hussein added, "I warned Davutoglu when he was here, ‘You are repeating in Syria the mistakes we made in Afghanistan. Organizations you support now will turn against you.’ Pakistan was wrong in becoming party to the war in Afghanistan and was wrong in supporting the Taliban. We are now paying the costs of these mistakes."

Are the people that are carrying out these attacks on the Turkish soil Syrian refugees or are they infiltrating Turkey from outside. I mean what has been the identities of these attackers so far.

I don't think that the purge has to do something with this terrible attack but in general you're right. Though, I'm asking myself how a government or state can protect its own citizens from a crazy individual with weapons?

Another important fact is that you can find 'secular' targets in Turkey to attack them as a terrorist. That's why we are facing more terror attacks than Tunisia (most İsis fighters are actually Tunisian) or Saudi Arabia (already a Sharia country). Don't you think so?

Are the people that are carrying out these attacks on the Turkish soil Syrian refugees or are they infiltrating Turkey from outside. I mean what has been the identities of these attackers so far.
You don't understand my point. We always had radical Islamists in Turkey like European countries had Nazis. But the common Turkish Islamist movements never used weapons and bombs and guns. Only socialist groups and Arab Islamists choosed this kind of fight. Even hardcore anti-USA/Israel/Nato/EU Sharia fans from Milli Görüş always prefered a civil and political conflict. These refugees and Arabs unfortunately infected the brains and minds of some Turkish Islamists. That's not acceptable.

Very sad news.. Beautiful turkey us suffering from this menace. Need of the hour is border controls, repatriation of refugees ( they are a massive security risk. One can't deny that) and stronger Intel resource along with strict security apparatus. This would help massively reduce the attacks. The loss of life is very saddening.

Well, another perfect justification for you know who to to restrict our movement on special occasions like this. Be it either New Year celebration or Atatürk's memorial. And I also know that some people will attack me by that statement. Furthermore, they will blame the so called higher minds and cemaat scums of course.
The day when this mindset realizes that there is actually a bigass size equality symbol "=" between terrorism and politically motivated moderate islam, is the day we may get a chance to fix things up.

It was the State Presidency for Religious Affairs itself that at last friday's hutbe, that they blamed and put dirt on celebrating anything that doesnt seem Arabic or Islamic to summarize.

Before establishing a vigilant mentality of security into the minds of our politicians who spend their office time by opening speeches, we must stand up against their encouragement of hatred against our values, the values of the other 50% in which are supposed to be the founding values of the Republic in the first place.

RIP to all innocents , WE are With you Turks . Inshallah this scum of Extremism and Radicalization will end soon .
