The USMC is acquiring a mixed fleet of short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) F-35B and CV F-35C aircraft. The current plan is for the Corps' current McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier IIs to be replaced by 353 F-35Bs, and its Boeing F/A-18 Hornets to be replaced by 67 F-35Cs.
CF-19 was the 36th and final F-35 to be delivered this year. Aircraft delivered in 2014 comprised 23 conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) F-35As to the US Air Force (USAF), two F-35As to the Royal Australian Air Force, four F-35Bs to the USMC, six F-35Cs to the USN, and one F-35C to the USMC.

The first Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II for the Norwegian Armed Forces is standing with weight on wheels for the first time, a significant milestone for the jet as it moves down the production line at Lockheed Martin’s mile-long assembly plant in Fort Worth, Texas.

Norway’s first F-35, known as AM-1, was lifted by an overhead crane on April 9 from an electronic mate and alignment station where its forward and rear fuselage sections were joined to the wing-center fuselage assembly. The aircraft will now travel to final assembly, where its control surfaces will be added, along with final systems and engine installation.

AM-1 is due to roll out of the factory later this year, alongside sister ship AM-2, and both aircraft will initially be based at Luke AFB, Arizona as part of the U.S. Air Force’s F-35 training system currently being established. A third F-35 aircraft for Norway is also in its early stages of production and will roll out of the factory next year.

Canada is essentially shoehorned into the quagmire that has become of the F-35 deal and won't back out. In hindsight, the Canadian military would be far better off with the F-15SE or Super Hornet Block III.

Canada chose the F-18 in 1980 over the Mirage 2000, the two finalists, on 2 criteria :
one was delivery schedule ( '82 Boeing vs '84 Dassault ), the other dual engines.

As such, the likelihood of selecting the single engine Gripen E is close to inexistent.
If you lose power over the Arctic, it's a huge cold solitary walk back to civilization as
we all know how long you have to wait for road assistance in the deep backcountry.

There is no Rafale deal so to speak in Canada for now due to internal politics, Stephen.

The F-35 choice came under attack as price and problems went up.
That ooplah is mostly restrained to experts & used as political positioning.
The people of Canada and most of their representatives are uninterested
in military matters. As a result, the acquisition process is woefully uncertain.
It literally shifts from great to idiotic from case to case.
Ex. Leopards great choice, F-18 good choice, bad follow-through and those
British subs, abysmal choice ( pun intended but hopefully not realized ever ).

PM Harper's a conservative with strong ties to Israel & god dog attitude to USA.
Every election is a bet with him pulling a majority from his hat as a magician.
Usually by beating one party but next time facing one Left-wing and a renewed,
revitalized Right Liberals with a charismatic young leader & ex PM's son.
Under attack, he first tried to refuse review of the F-35 buy but as the AF itself
as "reservations" on the single engine which resurfaced along with the critics,
he chose a long preliminary process of inquiry prior to discussion that will end …
after the next elections scheduled for October, in 3 months.

If he wins, F-35 probably does too. If he loses well, then it is in jeopardy because
the review will take place and with less than 80 flying jets left, time is a big issue.
Jeopardy does not mean losing however until the competition is re-opened which
is unlikely to be before next Spring.

That's about your timeframe for now, Stephen with time playing on the Lightning II's
side if its development and induction under IOC ( Marines ) occur in orderly fashion.
