Foreign investment has gone up 8 fold since the reforms and we're currently the 4th fastest growing economy in the world. Society is changing very quickly but there are some downsides. The wealth gap is increasing and petty crime is becoming a problem.

Off topic - i saw some myanmarese women runnig stalls in Phuket recently. They were wearing the bindi (red dot on forehead). Why? Thats not a mainstream practice no?

If they were from Myanmar, I would imagine they were Bumese-Indians.

Well, better than the Muslims. And probably better than the Chinese right now. Indians do well in integrating in Burmese society.

Well, better than the Muslims. And probably better than the Chinese right now. Indians do well in integrating in Burmese society.

There are indians from heartland settled in Myanmar for a century while there are Naga,Manipuris who share roots with Naga tribes in Myanmar.

OK. So its perfectly safe for Indian tourist

Sino-Burmese are well integrated but there is growing resentment at China itself w.r.t. things like illegal logging and mining and the hint that China supported Kokang and Wa rebels.

Myanmar's reform still has a long way to go, about the ethnic policy.

How about you start a new thread talking about Myanmar history or here you introduce something about Myanmar history and ethnics education? You know, Wa, Shan, Kachin, Karen, Chin, Kokang etc...all are trans-national ethnics.

If you don't know the background and history of every ethnic, you will not find good method to solve the dilemma. It's hard to make every ethnic the same nowadays.
