What's new

The disconnected diaspora of Pakistan

Whose fault is that?
People them selves voted for Nawaz sharif and zardari

It's dejavu Lebanon where people loved their camps

Not trolling at all.
I am dead serious
People that matter want Nawaz sharif back(central punjab)

Sindhis will keep zardari and pushtoons some sort of PTI or ANP amalgam
Idc - keep whatever you want, they all have their strengths and weaknesses
but keep fauj out of it
basic rules of Pak politics should be - no fauj, no psychos (Altaf, Ali wazir, MQM-L type racists, NS, to some extent nowadays, I feel like even IK should be in that list as he is losing the plot)
You are probably right but it's just 5% of my income

I am grabbing a land at 1lac rupees a canal. Pretty cheap near my ancestoral land
what??? thats cheap af...

It's unirrigated farm land and devaluation has made it cheap
All you need is solar pump

Paved road is about 3 miles from it but unpaved is fine

Pakistan had the privilege of having a diaspora that actually CARES about the country and wanted to remain connected to it despite being 2nd or 3rd generation in foreign lands.

And to see the elite crooks running the country shame and humiliate them is beyond anything I could have imagined.

I’m beginning to think the “traitor” myths about Bacha Khan or Mujib ur Rehman or even Altaf Hussain aren’t true. The second you try empower Pakistan’s civilians and especially the poor/middle class, the Pak Bhoj/Establishment destroys you.

Pakistan’s inward remittance will be following a downtrend for years to come. The regime change operation has only accelerated the inevitable.

The demographics where Pakistani based in western countries kids do not have that sort of an attachment with their motherland.

The diaspora in Middle East increasingly having to fight inflation especially the blue collar workers. Hence less money to send back home.

The white collar ones are increasingly looking inward and investing in property in Middle East. I mean why invest in DHA and have an unrealized appreciation of 10% but face a currency devaluation of 20% annually.

And then you’d have new generation of diaspora Pakistanis who have seen the most organized institution of Pakistan exposed at multi levels and hence understand the game.

The Hawala Hundi guys have always been active. They help transfer money into and out of Pakistan. Take a guess as to why the ‘boys’ and politicians have been able to siphon off so much money without any trace. Google for Khanani and Kaaliya death or Ayan Ali or Hudaibya Paper Mill cases. In addition, the difference between official rates and the Hundi rates is huge hence its a given to take the Hundi route.

All in all, the inward remittances will keep going down and the outward remittances will keep going out.

The Pakistan as we know is well and truly facing a dire situation and it is only going to get worse.

Why would change in regime accelerate the inevitable ?

If Pakistan’s diaspora is indeed so angry, why is only about 10% drop in remittances?

Yup.
While you Indians might wish for a 100% drop in remittance to aid your unwitting agent Imran Khan, most overseas Pakistanis, like me, send money to their 'family' and not to the State of Pakistan.
BTW, Imran Khan had publicly called Pakistanis to send money to Pakistanis via illegal channels way back during one of his multiple 'long marches' in 2014. Imagine the consequences for Pakistan!!! Imran doesn't care for anything but himself--heck, I hear he didn't even see his sons for 3.5 years!! Tells you something about a person, don't it??

PS. The title of this thread should be changed to 'Delusional' instead of 'Disconnected'. The Neros of Overseas Pakistanis watching from a safe, rich, comfortable distance, playing flute while Pakistan burns. And they actually wish to throw some oil on the fire.

Being young you take risks
My baba play was failure (so far) down 30%
But got 100% return on face book

For me, being a workaholic, I don’t get time to research and do my due dilligence. Not much experience in real estate either. Pakistan is a big no, and here I don’t have much exposure. So a defensive S&P500 works for me. And some old investments in crypto to satisfy my youthful urges.

No comment on the video but the worldwide Pakistani expat community has given PDM and their general friends the biggest middle middle finger in Pakistani history.
They used to rely on it for many things, not now.
The sands of time are running out.

Pakistani expats don't even want to hear the name Pakistan until PDM and generals are in charge.

Luckily PDM and the generals have the Americans as their main ally. From time to time the Americans will keep providing loans through IMF.

PDM and the general's can live in their wonderful world. The expats will continue to boycott an unjust and corrupt country.

I got a better one. The bitter and vengeful Bacha Khan's and Mujibur Rahman's of this world only came to being due to general's meddling.

Bacha Khan did nothing wrong you have to look it from his perspective of wanting KP to join afgahnistan
It would have been logical move from his side/view

After 1950s he accepted Pakistan and moved on, joined Fatima Jinnah movement and signed on 1973 consitution yet he was imprisones like mujeeb for most of his life for no reason

I am surprised why mujeeb and bacha Khan didn't revolt in 1950s and supported Fatima Jinnah that makes no sense

Put me in jail for 5 yrs and I would become a Indian agent yet those two stuck to their ideals for very long time
Bacha Khan was in his 80s yet he would be out in jail for no reason non stop

Have you taken a defensive position in your portfolio?
I am pretty tech dominant with some retail

So not defensive very aggressive portfolio.

I do tend to go after cyclicals e.g I was oil dominant after COVID and sold it around Russian war

My defense portfolio is my 401,403 & 457 there you have no choice but to invest in sp500 and obviously it's tax free that's the benefit there since my tax rate is almost 40%

Our diaspora is wrong to obsess over IK, our obsession should be with preserving the democratic structure of Pakistan

You are right but its the other side that keeps doing grave blunders that managed to put Imran Khan in the current image he is in among diaspora.

Before Vote of No Confidence criticism of IK was very common.

Took me a while to figure out he was speaking good ol' Urdu, heh!

What's the deal with this mixed Urdu/English (Urdlish?) bullsh!t with a fake-arse Western accent overseas burgers seem to love?

Some bloke I know spent like 2-3 years in Canada and all of a sudden he was having difficulty speaking Urdu, a language he spoke for 20 odd years!

Talk about inferiorty complexion!
Yes - extremely dark
Or maybe wheatish… definitely not Caucasian

Thermite to be more precise.

Who needs these neros - and their unbroken annual free clinic trips or otherwise.. they have the greatest DO graduates in the world in Pakistan… as soon as they figure out how a cannula works(personal experience of an engineer explaining to a Fauji Foundation House Job doctor how a cannula works and how he needs to administer medicine to me)

Look at indians
They can't speak Hindi and third and fourth gen are in connection to homeland while in case of pakistani they mostly do speak Urdu but in case they don't there is no connection with English language

Anyway that's a moat point the bigger issue is will someone abduct you or not.

So be careful make sure to put sir Asim munir sahab zindabad Dp on your profile or atleast an IPP flag before you go to Pakistan

A behkari corrupt nation begging for $3B .. here the 10% drop u mentioned is more than that 😆

Btw i dun agree with this corrupt mafia criminal govts stats and forged figures. I am 100% sure that the amount is somewhere btw 6-7B not 3-4B dropped. Also, digital roshan account ($6B) is also zero 🤣
