The things went tangential. It was not my intention.

Fair enough mate, both sides have great history. Some greats from East Punjab singing wise Kuldeep Manak, surinder shinda, Gurdas Maan, Surjit Bindrakhia faith wise the Sikh Gurus (although also West Punjab heritage as well) and son.

All members fighting here I doubt if they even have any idea of what Punjab actually was when it was one. Infact they don't even know what Punjab NOW is on the other side of the borders because they have just seen on TV, newspapers and internet. I am not even sure how many of you are even Punjabis (either from India or Pakistan) because only a real Punjabi, who is connected with the soil would know that this debate is a total crap.

Before partition, there never existed an idea of two nations, hence the two communities mingled like a family. Heck even Hindus lived together along with Sikhs and Muslims , all like how we stay now with our neighbours in our respective countries. People fighting here saying poets are from Pakistan and Dance is from India kinda shit... it was all about culture. Never religion. Miza Sahiba might be a folk story with the character names as Muslim names, but guess what kids... there was never the religion thing back then. That Mirza sahiba story is as Pakistan's as India's because our grand parents did not even now the concept of two nations during that time. When I kept My profile name as Mirza jatt, it never crept my mind that it was Muslim name. Lol. Our surnames too are shared due to the cultural heritage... both Pakistan <uslim Paunjabis and Indian SIkhs Punjabi has more than a dozen common surnames like Cheema, Gill, Bajwa, Virk, Chaudhary, Dhillon, Sethi, Randhawa and many more.. its about the village / region you belong to than being Sikhs or Muslims. Diet is almost same. saying almost same because inspite of same culture, the religious beliefs influenced the usage of veg/ non veg. This difference was there even before partition. But rest same... the entire land is fertile.. Punjabi in Pakistan is most fertile and guess what same is he case in India.

For people who are not Punjabis... have you noticed, there is a slight change of dialect if you go a ittle far away from your place.. but the basic language remains the same.. Similarly even Paujab had similar language basically with dialects changing from region to region. Common sense... a land which was one big town if divided from middle, will the language of that place change.. so people saying that the language is different knows crap about Punjab. Border areas of India and Pakistani Punjab speak with same ditto dialect.. you know why.. because they are the same people suddenly bordered by a fence after living for centuries together. When half of the people moved from India to Pakistan and vice versa, they are not expected to invent a new language.

About the members talking about the poets, Sufism itself is connected to Islam or Msulims, and not Sikhism. So it is very much natural that you'll have more sufi poets and artists who are muslims. That does not mean Pakistan is more Punjabi than India. Sikh Punjabis are more of cultural celebrations like Lohri, etc. Hence you'll find more Bhangra artists from Indian Punjab .. now does that mean India side is more Punjabi ? Some one used Shiv batalvi.. Shiv was influenced by Sufism and he picked it up. I am very sure in the past even lesser number of non Muslims were Sufi artists ( or may be none). Same as Jagjit sing singing Ghazal.

I can go on and on. The thing is, a Punjabi, whether Indian or Pakistani, who has grown up hearing stories from their parents and grandparents about 'Punjab' will not find this thread amusing. Its a shared culture with very few difference manly due to the religion.

Looks like you don't like facts. Anyway, good day.
Oh i know my facts, and the fact is that there isn't a single Indian qawwal. So as far as it goes for you to claim it as your heritage give me a single name, you can't because there isn't any, FACT.
