NEW DELHI, Feb 27, 2012, DHNS:
In a reminder of the continued vulnerability of women to their predators in the nations capital, two six-year-old girls, a second-year degree student, a mentally unstable woman and an Army personnels wife were reportedly raped here on Monday.
In the first incident, reported from Mundka in west Delhi, a security guard allegedly raped a six-year-old girl on Sunday morning. The accused, identified as Ajay, lured the minor to nearby bushes, close to the railway tracks, and raped her. He, then, threatened her of dire consequences, if she revealed his incident to anyone.
The minor returned home and narrated the incident to her parents. The police have registered a case after medical reports confirmed the rape. The accused is still on the run and we have got leads and are hopeful that he will be arrested soon, said the investigating officer.
In the second incident, the wife of an army personnel alleged that she was raped on Monday by an acquaintance, who is also in the army. The incident took place at Delhi Cantonment in south west Delhi.
The 28-year-old victim made a call at police control room at around 11:30 pm. She alleged that a man whom she already knew had come to meet her at her house. The man, then, closed the doors from inside and raped her. After the rape, when he tried to flee, she called police, said a senior police officer.
A police team rushed to the spot and nabbed Ravinder. A medical test confirmed the rape. The victims husband is at present posted in Jammu and Kashmir. The police said both the accused and the victims husband are non-commissioned officer with Indian army.
In a separate incident, a mentally-unstable woman was raped by a security guard at Dwarka in south-west Delhi on Saturday. The Police have arrested the accused, identified as Nand Kumar. A senior police officer said Kumar took the woman to an isolated place and then assaulted her. The incident came to light when the victim narrated the matter to her mother who then reported it to the police.
In another incident, a 20-year-old student of Delhi University was raped by her brother-in-law in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh about 20 days ago. The victim, a resident of Vivek Vihar in east Delhi, told the police about the assault after the accused visited her again on Sunday and tried to force her to come with him.
She resisted and when he used force to take her out, she called the police. He was placed under arrest, said a senior police officer. In her complaint, she told police that 20 days ago her brother-in-law had raped her in a Ghaziabad hotel.
She further alleged that her brother-in-law came to her college and asked her to come with him on the pretext that they were going to Ghaziabad to meet her sister. When they reached Ghaziabad, he took her to a hotel room saying that her sister was waiting inside the room and then raped her. Later, he warned her against disclosing the incident.
On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the victim's brother-in-law, Brij Mohan, a BSES employee.
The fifth incident was reported from Kirti Nagar on Friday. A six-year-old Class I student was raped, beaten up and dumped in a drain at Kirti Nagar.
The accused identified as Parasuram, 25, has been arrested. He had lured the girl to a building near a temple in same locality and allegedly raped her and then smashed her head against the wall on February 24.
He then threw her into a drain, assuming her to be dead.
Police found the victim on February 25. She was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where a medical examination confirmed rape. The victims father said that there were cigarette burn marks on her body.
