The problem with discussions in an online open forum like PDF is that anyone who can write English can participate. This is simply like a local tea stall debate. Since PDF is a 'defense forum' , the bar could have been much higher but that is not the case. The same people of a gamer, cricket or movie forum are also member here. Any military/diplomatic/intel/ scientist guy can be easily flanked here by either a highschool gamer or a bloody newsreader through fallacious semantics on various issues. These issues can range from national security to molecular biology.
Ignorance is not the issue but the most annoying people are those who suffer from learning disabilities. These are people who can not think for themselves but constantly seeks an authority to read out sermons for them.
Then you have people who come to a defense forum to seek crude entertainments. I don't care if one has a so called 'false flag' as long as one presents logically sound statements which is rare though ! That is much better than the insane bombardments of a 'true flag'. PDF probably has given birth to more historians than Oxford and more graduates than PMA with the substraction of relevant know how.
However, it is still not all lost. There is still some silver lining. One can identify how our Pakistan went off track simply by visiting the threads of PDF. The members are the true reflection of the contradictions and class conflicts within our Pakistani society. PDF on !

Thankyou, for this critique.... sounds logical enough.

What do you suggest that we must do/adopt to...for a CommercialEnterprise whose BusinessModel is free-membership and traffic based revenues... and nothing wrong with it... I would like to say!

I, for one, do appreciate that you take your time and share knowledge/opions supported sources...which does have an education value in themselves... hence, people like your good self add value and help others to shape their minds...

Are there other fora where 'quality' is very high?

And what criteria of membership do they have?

I say all of the above more as student... trying to understand...what possible solutions/options are there to move up the intellectual ladder...so to speak...

I don't know... perhaps a degree is nothing more than a print-out to hide intellectual nakedness of the graduate and profit of the instituition... or maybe it is not.

Anyhow, many thanks for your contributions... educational as always!

PDF management might consider a separate paid subscription based section for 'serious' participants to add some real value. The membership will be subject to filling out questionnaire and satisfactory answers. A critical mind should suffice. No degree is necessary.

I agree with you...Either a paid subscription or enhance member club( with restricted access) where quality contributions are encouraged from specifically qualified people..

While quality is subjective, the monetary payment itself is objective. Paid subscription should be encouraged as payment is a sign of seriousness. I have already seen many existing enhanced members offering little more than fallacious conjectures.

Can I pay my subscription in dried pasta and toilet rolls? ..I've been hoarding a lot of them recently...can't even remember why.

This guy wants to end PDF for good.

At the very least :
An idea is like a virus, resilient, highly contagious. ... Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere. ( Cobb/Inception 2010)

I wonder if Rick really knew about using a soldering iron, programming and of course, user experience (UX). These days these roles are converged. I don't question his entertainment value though.
PDF will have to adapt to the new realities at some stage. The way online business works, will not remain the same. I am sure PDF guys thought about this before. I only reigniting those provocative thoughts. The virus of thought simply needs a single host to grow.
