Are you mentally challenged mate ?

"According to research conducted by the World Economic Forum (which excludes China and India due to lack of data), Russia leads the way, producing an annual total of 454,000 graduates in engineering, manufacturing and construction. The United States is in second position with 237,826 while Iran rounds off the top three with 233,695."

You are missing the point Haman jan.

You see, my 6 year old daughter makes body spare parts using 3D printers for her cat during circle time in kindergarten. Then after school she transplants those parts into her cat with my help (don't get me wrong my help is only keeping the struggling cat in place while she is doing the surgery) The plan is to turn the cat into a Bulldog by the time she is finished as part of school projects.

You see, with only one year of formal education here, she has already surpassed all of the knowledge that I collected during my 22 years of education in Iran's back warded schools and universities.

Iran can waste money and educate one million low quality and ignorant engineers like me per year but they will never come close to even high school graduates from countries in the West. You know why? Because they have 3D Printers!!!

So face the reality and stop spreading propaganda!

In other words Russia doesn't really lead. Obviously the two biggest populated countries should have more engineering graduates. Didn't know that this is a dick measuring thread. Just noticed Russia on the top with a smaller population.

So you're the third most advanced nation in the world, is that what you're saying? Russia is more advanced then the US apparently too. And Iran is more advanced than Korea and Japan lol. Third most number of engineering students in the world and a simple stadium takes you 3 decades to be built (i.e. Naqshe Jahan in Isfahan, or the one in Shiraz or...).

Every dick wad in Iran has a degree. It's a meaningless piece of paper in Iran.

Nope gholi joon, it indicates that Iran is reducing the gap.we already have the fastest scientific growth and we are among top 20 in case of producing valid scientific papers.how on earth someone could come up with such a faild logic that you have?

@that ignorant **** that compared his undeveloped country to Iran.

In Iran there are 80 governmental universities (free education) and 385 Azad universities (not free) and some other private semi-universities.and some of those Azad universities are world class such as Barajin.you have 128 universities while your population is 180 milions and that of us is 80 milions.please dont talk about sth that you have no clue about it.

So? stamping degrees is not a skill, quantity not equal quality.

Not only India tops in engineering graduates it tops also in medical graduates pass out per year.

Congrats Iran for having such progress in science and technology despite having international sanctions and Islamic take over.Iran also have a 1000 % increase output in 9 years that is from 1996 to 2005.Its the worlds fastest growth in science technology.

the data for 2005

Russia has the lead and better than USA because the percentage of Russian that go to university is the highest in the whole world... If I,m not wrong... more than %51 or %61 of all Russians have a higher education degree...so it is not only about the population but how much the higher education has infra and popularity in that country.....

Not only in Iran or Russia but even in Japan and USA, not all eng graduates are quality ones... per my personal estimate, not more than %10 of all graduates are quality graduates that do excellent jobs in their work place...other %90 are just normal engs that can do the job but not doing any extra ordinary work....

But even %10 of all that big number is enough for a country like Iran to have thousands of unemployed engineers or engineers that work in unrelated jobs... Iranian high university graduates are due to a phenomenon called Population surge that happened back in 1980-1990 era... Iranians produced millions of youngsters that wanted higher education... This is why number of Iranian universities grew in very abnormal rate... Today every small village in Iran has universities!!

This is also the main reason behind high rate of immigration requests by Iranian graduates... Iranian economy no matter how industrialized won't have enough seats for all these millions of graduates...be it Engineering or Art graduates.... Iran has more than 100k of surplus graduates each year and it is a good solution to export them to Canada and Europe and USA of course... they will gain jobs... income... expertise... even if %1 of all these experts come back in one point it will be a win-win solution

The degree from Azad university isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Might as well be used as toilet paper. Azad university in Iran is essentially a camp compared to even shit universities in the West.

In Iran everybody is a mohandes and everyone has an engineering degree. Yet, none of them know anything. The country lags behind 3rd world countries in many aspects. And your scientific growth thing is based on the number of published articles in journals. That doesn't mean much. Every graduate student publishes articles. If those articles lead to ground breaking discoveries or new products and services then fine. But in Iran the main goal isn't developing new products, companies aren't financing research, vast majority of these papers lead to no new services etc... They're written by career students that haven't spent a day of their lives in the work place and the research isn't financed by the industry either. Essentially it's useless words on paper for the most part.

Till you can show results, all this is just for show and nothing else.

Again, quality over quantity:

Russia is recognized as the most educated country in the world. But it’s high time to start thinking about the quality of education, rather than just the quantity.
For Russia to boast that it is “the most educated country in the world” today requires something more than simply adding up lists of universities or the number of degrees they hand out.

How many Iranian and Russian universities are in the world's top 100?! How many North American universities are in that same list?

Abii, USA's strength is not they have the highest educated people in the world, but that they attract the most from other countries. Just because Russia & Iran & etc have a highly educated graduates, doesn't mean we will automatically be more technically advanced than USA. First of all, we are behind, so the best we are doing at the moment, is reducing the gap.

Also, if USA has 100 graduates, none of them will come to Iran. But if we have 100 graduates, some of them will go to USA.

Still, the brain drain doesn't matter that much. Having 10 graduates and zero brain drain might seem good, but it is better to have 20% brain drain but have 1000 graduates.

Hah Turkish word for Engineer is also Muhandes :)

Actually i think both reasons are the factor here. Aside from the fact that western universities are top notch and simply focus on quality rather then quantity, they have an extremely attractive environment, have the neccesary infrastructure and friendly foreign policy for graduates. Russia also has the second mentioned reason, i have heard alot of stories about Turkish engineers going to Russia.

Also it is best to be able to keep all of these talents in Iran. but this is not a bad thing. Those immigrants act like a bridge and transfer technology to Iran. This has already happened. One of them was the case of the engineer who allegedly passed F-35 engine design information to Iran. Other example is Dr. Samie who is now returning to Iran to found one of the biggest neurosurgery hubs in the world.

Back in the days of Roman empire, there were people from today's Germany, France and England who went to live in Rome, however, a number of them always returned and laid the foundation of today's mighty countries. Same is true about modern Japan, India and China.

Some Iranian engineers are always better to leave (the types that we have a couple of examples in this forum as well). It is best both for them and Iran. Some engineers like me have spent their most productive days in Iran and then left.

Iran has the highest expansion rate in scientific research in the world. That tells me enough of those engineers do stay in Iran.
First of all let me stop you there when u said some allegedly passed F-35 engine design information to Iran first of all he was caught before he even got on the plan and secondly even if some how he did that engine is not going to copy or even fix so easily because we U.S make those and have years and years of experience on those thong we can't even make it right just right now so what makes you think a country that just starting using technology can do it ...? Look at those copycat Chinese all they do is copy or hack somebody's computer and they can't even build a reasonable jet engine come on men really if you have said the Russians I would agree with you but Iran nooooo a big no no ....lol

Amen so true lol
