It just so happens that, four Indian aircraft sent to attack Pakistani positions, start off by strafing their own tanks and positions, it's just a one of a kind that Indians shoot down their own aircraft right above Delhi thinking it's a Pakistani transporter and it's also quite common that wing man can't distinguish between his leader and the enemy and blows him to kingdom come, forget fast jets in a war situation, only the Indian helicopter pilots would be forced to land some 20 miles inside hostile territory still convinced they are in India.
Now since you have trouble learning about the ship strafing incident and obviously you are no wiser in this field, a pilot just doesn't take off heads out to the sea and attacks the first ship in sight, since you have heard of the story and rather than throwing your dummy out of the pram, i suggest you acquire some background knowledge into the incident as how many times the pilot sought clearance before opening fire.....in a war you will also find ships don't exactly fly the flag at full mast.

But coming to the point, do you call all accidents "cheapest kill"? How about military blunders like "defence of east lies in west" or Maginot line that allowed the opposing army to humiliate? Or you are just making these terms up so that you can forget the humiliation caused by IA/IN/IAF mauling and grinding your forces at every available opportunity?
