What's new

The Calibre of PAC Engineers

ok now im confused.
tell me if im wrong
Pakistan had 4 Saab 200 AWACS, 2 were damaged and 1 was destroyed. the 2 that were damaged are repaired and the one thats destroyed is not coming back.

4 zkd's ordered from china 3 delivered 4th not yet delevered
Only 2 aircraft attacked one destroyed or damaged beyond repair and one nose cone damaged which repaired this year so now we have 3 aircraft.

.
Nope Pakistan has 3 AWAC. The original leaker of the news stands corrected. He told us right after the attack about the destruction of 1 and 2 severly damaged. Officials disclosed after 6 months of attack publically that 1 destroyed completely in the attack. Op is confusing himself and many others.

BS ! I met the officer involved in the operation (awarded).. 1 was "destroyed" and 1 suffered some minor damage (to the body)... The one "destroyed" was repaired .. And it's mentioned in the MODP report!

All SAAB's are in service (yeah 4 of them).

So should I take the word of officer who might have lied to you over the word of additional defense secretary who said completely destroyed AWAC in parliament and outranks your anon officer by miles ?

ISLAMABAD: The February 6 admission by senior officials of the defence ministry that a Saab-2000 aircraft fitted with an Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AWACS) was totally destroyed in the August 15, 2012 terror attack on the Kamra airbase, implies that the concerned authorities had been keeping the tax payers in the dark for the past six months by claiming that it was only the nose cone of the precious aircraft which had been partially damaged and that it would be repaired by the manufacturers in Sweden.

The fact that the Kamra airbase raiders had completely destroyed one of the four Saab-2000 AWACS planes was made public for the first time by Additional Secretary Defence Rear Admiral Farrokh Ahmad during a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defence on February 6, six months after the Minhas airbase at Kamra was attacked by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Initially after SAAB had refused the repair, it was considered as a ''write off'', the other had minimum damage.

Thank to God, that writeoff was somehow repaired or else the current AWAC strength would have remained 2.

. .
[PAF will never do that just for public consumption. These are our valuable assets, just like say Shaheen missiles, no one knows how many and where.

I chuckled at your statement. there is mother load of irony in your statement. One should take a cue from F-22 program. So much so public scrutiny that they have to release crash reports publicly. Was Oxygen problem hidden from the public ?

Yes a guy who was asked by various military institutions including Arty School Nowshehra for lectures on security would lie to people? The same offucer who was awarded a medal for valor displayed during the operation?

When the hell did this happen? I remember P-3 Orion being damaged but never AWACs.

Read blunders and how to hide them...

No scrutiny, everybody walks away calm and happy leaving a black hole in national security for some while... (i know some reading will be offended but i honestly want to just break my computer by smashing it to a wall... this whole deal makes my blood boil)...

. .
Hiding it was important considering that for a while our AWACs were out of order, enemy could have taken advantage of such a situation.
-_- the enemy operates some high tech. satellites, is a friend of israel and had hands in the said attack... you think they wouldn't know?

Further history of Airframe search reveals..

SE-049 was previously F-GMVG and was operated by a French Airline from 1997-2001

SE-045 was previously LY-SBW and was operated by Lituanian airlines until 2009

SE-040 has no recorded History

SE-025 has no recorded history

SE-019 has no recorded history

That means at least two of the aircrafts are second hand....
All 5 are appearing as "Active" . That means none has been decommissioned or scrapped by PAF

The Final Status : Two airframes can fly, one of them is a trainer and one has the operational Erieye system. One is destroyed and and one is nonoperational. Cant state about the last one.

4 were originally bought.

1 suffered minor damage.
1 suffered extensive damage.

Both were repaired.

Meanwhile another Saab aircraft was allegedly bought (by Saudis).

All in all 4 Saab AWACS are in service.

Sir do consider the possibility that maybe you and @Windjammer BOTH are right?

The def sec, when he made the statement "assumed" that the aircraft was an irrecoverable loss, but a detailed technical analysis later, proved that it could be salvaged after all?
