The biggest tragedy of India's strategy is that her capability cannot match her ambitions.

There are many countries poorer than India, weaker than India, or smaller than India. But, most of them will make the national strategy match their capability and fit to their reality. In the opposite, India is the most typical country that always over estimated her capability and finally made many things to be tragedies.

India's strategy is to exclusively control the Ocean of India and make it the backyard of India. However, US Navy is the strongest force in this region and China will increase her existence in this region in the future. There is nothing India can do

India wanted to the leader of the third class, and she once really thought she was the leader of third world in delusion. The reality was that she was humiliated by China in 1962.

India's military strategy is to win two-front war. Can she? Does she have the capability.

India wants to become a permanent member of UNSC. This became the grail of India's national goal. To achieve this goal, India developed the nuclear weapon, although cannot miniaturize it yet. India even rent a SSN from Russia. India acts like a child, and keeps saying 'you see, I am very important, you guys should not ignore me'. I am the super power and I want to join the P5 of UNSC. However, no one actually cares about her. To join the elite club in UNSC is still a dream for all elites in India. Basically, the daily life of bottom people is not a concern of these elites. Because during the election, their vote can be easily bought by a bread a cup of milk.

India wants to become a military superpower, however, her military industry complex is too weak to produce any decent weapon. India has to buy, buy, and buy. India spent too much precious foreign reserve in buying weapons from other countries. These moneys should be spent into the section of education, infrastructure and public service first. In 1980s and 1990s China's military spending was very low when she started her economic reform. Even today, her military budget is less than 6% of the total fiscal revenue. In the other way, India's military budget is about 14% of her revenue. India is not necessary and also could not afford such high defense budget. It just hurts its economy.

Indians always boosts India is the largest democracy in the world and It becomes the biggest joke of Politics. How can the real democracy co-exit with the caste system? Some Chinese used to have fantasy in the democracy. However, once they see the reality in India, on one want such kind of democracy. The democracy can have many types and can be good and or bad. No doubt, India's democracy is among those bad ones.

India's plans are always great, Indians' PPT are always spectacular, and India's future will always be brilliant. The problem is that India just does not have the capability to turn them into the reality.

LOL....10 years back, we heard similar demotivational stories from western media about China.
Now china is using similar non sense to prove that something is wrong with india..

If India's strategy had not succeeded, you wouldn't be posting here such a big article on India? Okay why didn't you write this for all those small successful countries?

What did you dream of last night ???

China has its own problems to worry about. No need to worry about us,we may be slow..but eventually we will get there.Because we have all the fundamentals -manpower-for both labour and brains, natural mineral resources, huge arable land, huge coastline. It may take years, decades even to fine tune, develop our latent potential ..but it will be done slowly but surely. And there is not a damn thing chinese can do about it,except make these foolish posts.
You go play big dick contest with USA,we have not taken any concrete sides yet.But make no mistake permanent enmity with india will ensure your permanent geographical encirclement as well.Problem with some chinese posters like OP is their mentality essentially remains lowly..that of a poor man who suddenly became rich and now wants to show off his weight.

:lol: Ok, let's assume what you are saying is right and things are plain and simple going wrong with India.
Say, we have nothing to loose. That means, we have everything to gain. So, we will be out there everyday to put up a fight and perform to the best of our abilities and capabilities, come what may. Thank you for your concern, but you can keep them to yourself :enjoy::enjoy:

well thats the mentaliy of indians leave alone china even Brazil is currently way ahead of india in many fields and have not said once that they will be supa powa in this century
We Indians generally have high patriotism(sometimes it goes above reality). But what the problem, we are going in right direction.

That's not patriotism, that delusion of the highest order.

Indians are the most deluded people on this planet bar none.
Let it be delusion. As long as we are in right direction, we don't have problem with it. Our GDP is growing and projected to grow in future. So not to be worried.

An excellent and well balanced post. Pretty much sums up India perfectly.

We Dream something which is not achievable right now. US dream Plazma rocket and not cryogenic engine. Some time back we dreamed Cryogenic engine. We are dreaming of Fusion reactor now. . We msut dream high so that we can go into that direction to achieve it . It is always better to dream something which is not achievable by current resources.

India Plucks a Pearl from China's 'String' in Bangladesh?
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Bangladesh this weekend, where he signed, among other agreements, a resolution of the long-standing land border dispute between the two countries. Modi and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina signed 20 agreements and memorandums of understanding on issues as diverse as infrastructure, energy, health, and education. The two leaders additionally consulted on counter-terrorism cooperation, boosting trade, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Modi and Hasina additionally broached the sensitive issue of Teesta River water-sharing. On the security front, one of the more interesting agreements to emerge from Modi’s trip so far has been a bilateral agreement that will grant Indian cargo vessels use of the China-backed Chittagong port and Mongla port in Bangladesh. This agreement was reportedly under discussion between the two sides and scheduled to have been signed as early as 2011.

There is a popular perception in India of maritime strategic encirclement by China in the Indian Ocean.Symptoms of this were most recently seen in late 2014, when a Chinese submarine was spotted docking in Sri Lanka, drawing vocal protest from India. Additionally, Chinese military exercises in the eastern Indian Oceanhave spurred concern among Indian commentators and strategic analysts. In India’s perception, China is establishing a network of civilian port facilities and underwriting Indian Ocean littoral infrastructure projects to boost the ability of its vessels to operate in and around waters that should rightly be under New Delhi’s dominion. A decade ago, a Booz Allen Hamilton report used the metaphor of a “string of pearls” to describe this phenomenon and the term stuck, for better or worse. Since then, it’s become somewhat of an analytical trope for analysts studying maritime security in the context of India-China competition. (Commentators here at The Diplomat, however, have warned against the utility of the construct.)

Why the 'Asian Century' Might Actually Belong to India, Not China

With the conclusion of his three-nation tour of China, Mongolia and South Korea last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi capped a frenetic first year of diplomacy. It is becoming apparent that the emphasis on the Asian region will continue to be an imperative for the rest of his term. In this past year alone, the Indian prime minister has invested about twice as many days visiting the "east" -- Asia, the Indian Ocean region and the Pacific -- as against his "westward" travels.

Is this a reinvigoration of India's "Look East" policy? Does it mean relatively less importance to the West? And, what are the drivers of this policy? Barring the notable absence of West Asia from his travel schedule, it is clear that "Engage Asia" has been the predominant mantra of Modi's early days in office.

This Asian focus is decidedly different from previous efforts by Indian leaders to integrate with the neighborhood. Those efforts were driven by the idea of demonstrating Indian leadership in a particular geography, or they were manifestations of south-south solidarity, or they were necessitated by security concerns emanating from across the border.

Modi's Asian thrust is designed to find partnerships, technology and funds to complete this 20th century project. The Atlantic countries do not have the financial capacity to invest in large infrastructure and energy projects. They do not have the political room to commit to carbon-intensive industrialization. And they no longer have the wherewithal to offer 20th century inputs (equipment, energy and technology) for an insatiable India.

All of these are readily available to the east of India. Consider this: China, Japan and Korea between them have close to U.S. $5.5 trillion in foreign exchange reserves, funds desperately needed for this 20th century project.

There is a coincidence of needs as well. Each of these economies needs to invest in new geographies. They need to generate wealth out of what are now stagnant reserves. These are countries that have successfully completed their industrialization projects and need to find outlets for investment in the industrialization of others. That's why China has become the biggest provider of energy-generation equipment to India andwants to build high-speed trains here. It is why South Korea wants to build nuclear reactors and ports in India. And it is why the Japanese want to set up industrial corridors in India. Asia is also the source of most of the energy needs that are indispensable to this national project. Be it gas, uranium, coal variously sourced from Australia, Mongolia, Central Asia and the Middle East, this region offers India plenty of energy opportunities.
