he executive committee of the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is proud to announce its dates for this year’s festival - April 11, 12 & April 18, 19 and is free to the public. The Grand Parade will be on April 19 starting from SF Civic Center and ending in Japantown.

The first Cherry Blossom Festival took place in April of 1967 and now enters its 48th year. The Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is said to be the second largest festival outside of Washington, D.C. to celebrate the blooming of cherry blossoms; and held at the biggest of three remaining Japantowns in the United States.

Every year, the festival is joined by hundreds of performers from both Japan and California to give our thousands of spectators a taste of the Japanese culture. The festival features an exclusive non-profit vendor food area, Arts & Crafts area and Japanese cultural stage performances at five venues in San Francisco’s Japantown. This year's festival has some new attractions like the Hello Kitty Truck, and a new area called Sakura 360 – highlighting the new culture of Japan. Ending the festival is the raffle for cash, tickets and other prizes. The 2015 performers and schedules will be finalized in later March. Check http://bit.ly/NCCBF for the latest information.

The Northern California Cherry Blossom queen program has a press event on March 14 at 11:30p at the Union Bank Community Center, first floor of the Japan Center East Mall, SF Japantown, San Francisco.

You live in Hawaii?? Lucky guy!
I grew up under Governor George Ariyoshi. Hawaii's outward appearance is dominated by Japanese cultural artifacts. The McDonalds in Hawaii have saimin on the menu. Sashimi is common at social gatherings. Of the non-English speakers, Japanese is heard more than other Asian languages. Even the classic kimono is often seen in downtown Honolulu.

i find japanese culture phenomenal. the attention to detail is astounding. japanese people are great, the food is great. Berserk (anime/manga) is the best narrative ive ever witnessed

as someone who works in a hospital 80+ hrs a week, one of the few things i look forward to is riding my motorcycle into manhattan in the middle of the night, going to my usual ramen spot, and eating and having a round of sake. for any new yorkers, the joint is called Ramen Sanshiro (it opens at 11PM)
