Today is the 14th anniversary of the Atlantique Incident (August 10, 1999). The Atlantique Incident was an event in which a Pakistan Navy's Naval Air Arm Breguet Atlantique patrol plane, carrying 16 people on board, was shot down by the Indian Air Force for alleged violation of airspace. The episode took place in the Rann of Kutch on 10th August 1999, just a month after the Kargil War, creating a tense atmosphere between India and Pakistan.

SOLDIER

Rest in peace soldier you did your best,

now its time for them to handle the rest.

Your loved ones are home mourning for you,

but you did your job, your job is through.

You served our country to the best that you
could,

now it's time for you to feel good.

stay up in Heaven and guard your fellow soldiers,

and watch as your children grow up and get older.

Don't feel unworthy as the others still fight,

just keep watching them as they go through the night.

So rest in peace soldier you did your best.

now it's time for them to handle the rest.

REST IN PEACE .. Salute to all our Martyrs.

That was probably IAF's revenge for the killing of Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja. We already know about the army's revenge for the killing of Captain Saurabh Kalia & his men. The Pakistanis were in violation of a 10 km exclusion zone near the IB. After Kargil, that was simply suicide.

But .. this was quite a bit provocation, but I presume reverses in kargil dampened any enthusiasm from pak side.

Nobody in India at that time gave a damn about Pakistan's feelings. The Army's revenge for Capt. Kalia was no less provocative. It was something that needed to be done, so was.

True, India always hit back with high rate of interest always.

But ppl (from both side) did not see it well. Pakistanis only see the weak IA so is Indians.

If it is a peace time, that incident could not have happened.
