The Arabic Language: Its Amazing History and Features

.

This video is all about the Arabic language, from its early from its origins on the Arabian peninsula, to its current status as the 5th most spoken language on Earth.

This is the best and most accurate information about the Arabic language and its history that I have ever seen from a non-Arab/non-native Arabic speaker on Youtube.

Very impressive.

. .
Arabic is the language of the Kuran-i Kerim!!!! It had been developed in the most eloquent and meaningful way so that the mankind became ready to listen to the Words of Allah-u Azimushshan. And, it's the last message before the Last Day!!! Moreover, the script itself is the script of Islam....

The British Council considers Arabic as the second most important language of the future.

Arabic (Arabic: العَرَبِيَّة‎‎, al-ʻarabiyyah [ʔalʕaraˈbij.ja] ( listen) or Arabic: عَرَبِيّ‎‎ ʻarabī [ˈʕarabiː, ʕaraˈbij] ( listen)) is a Central Semitic language that was first spoken in Iron Age northwestern Arabia and is now the lingua franca of the Arab world.[4]Arabic is also the liturgical language of 1.7 billion Muslims.[5][6][7] It is one of six official languages of the United Nations.[8] It is named after the Arabs, a term initially used to describe peoples living from Mesopotamia in the east to the Anti-Lebanon mountains in the west, and from northwestern Arabia to the Sinai in the south.

Arabic is considered, in its standard form and dialects, a single language; it is spoken by perhaps as many as 422 million speakers (native and non-native) in the Arab world,[9] making it one of the five most spoken languages in the world.

The modern written language (Modern Standard Arabic) is derived from the language of the Quran (known as Classical Arabic or Quranic Arabic). It is widely taught in schools and universities, and is used to varying degrees in workplaces, government, and the media. The two formal varieties are grouped together as Literary Arabic, which is the official language of 26 states and the liturgical language of Islam. Modern Standard Arabic largely follows the grammatical standards of Quranic Arabic and uses much of the same vocabulary. However, it has discarded some grammatical constructions and vocabulary that no longer have any counterpart in the spoken varieties, and has adopted certain new constructions and vocabulary from the spoken varieties. Much of the new vocabulary is used to denote concepts that have arisen in the post-Quranic era, especially in modern times.

Arabic is written with the Arabic alphabet, which is an abjad script and is written from right-to-left although the spoken varieties are sometimes written in ASCII Latin from left-to-right with no standardized orthography.

Arabic has influenced many languages around the globe throughout its history. Some of the most influenced languages are Persian, Turkish, Urdu, Kurdish, Bosnian, Kazakh, Bengali, Hindi, Malay, Maldivian, Indonesian, Pashto, Punjabi, Tagalog, Sindhi and Hausa and some languages in parts of Africa. During the Middle Ages, Literary Arabic was a major vehicle of culture in Europe, especially in science, mathematics and philosophy. As a result, many European languages have also borrowed many words from it. Many words of Arabic origin are also found in ancient languages like Latin and Greek. Arabic influence, mainly in vocabulary, is seen in European languages, mainly Spanish owing to both the proximity of Christian European and Muslim Arab civilizations and 800 years of Arabic culture and language in the Iberian Peninsula, referred to in Arabic as al-Andalus. Balkan languages, including Greek, have also acquired a significant number of Arabic words through contact with Ottoman Turkish.

Arabic has also borrowed words from other languages including Greek and Persian in medieval times, and contemporary European languages such as English and French in modern times.

. . . . .
(1) Arabic is difficult language to learn.
Pakistanis living in Arab countries for decades could not talk in Arabic (although we have same letters in Urdu as Arabic and we all can read Quran).
For Europeans, it is even more difficult than for Pakistanis to learn Arabic.

(2) 1.5 Billion Muslims could read Quranic Arabic, but not even 1% of Non Arab Muslims are able to understand Arabic despite lot of religious efforts.

(3) Although it is claimed that Arabic was spoken in the Iron Age (3500 years BC), but strange thing is this that first proper written proof of Arabic exists only 150 years BC. There are "tens of thousands" of inscriptions found in Saudi Arabia, but no where Arabic exists before 150 years BC.

(4) Challenge to Religious Islamic Stories

* According to Islam, Abraham came to Mecca with Ismael about 2000 years BC.

But modern Science denies this Islamic claim, while absolutely no Archaeological PROOF of Mecca is found which is older than Jesus Era (i.e. at time of Jesus, there existed no Mecca).

* According to Islam all the progeny of Ismael (Arabs) followed the religion of "Deen-e-Ibrahimi". They came for Pilgrimage every year in Mecca. And Mecca was the most famous city of old Arab as it also lies on the famous trade route.

But modern science again proved all these stories to be false.

There are several "Hundred Thousands" archaeological proofs (in form of inscriptions, idols, worship houses, tombs etc.) found all over in Saudi Arabia, but not a single proof of any "Ibrahimic Allah" is found any where. In thousands of written inscriptions, there is proof of Sabaeens worshipping their gods and stars all over Arabia, but 0 proof of any Ibrahim or Ibrahimic Allah.

* Also there were many Historian who belonged to Greek and other lands, who wrote history of old Arabia (several hundred years before BC), but none of them was aware of any Mecca, none of them was aware of people of Arab cities going for pilgrim to Mecca, none of them was aware of any Ibrahim or Ibrahimic Allah all over the Arabia.
The works of these old Historians is safe even today. They provided in details the name of all the cities of old Arabia, all the tribes living there. But despite all these details, not a single mention of Allah, Ibrahim or Mecca.

If only people (Muslims) could ponder upon these proofs then they will get rid of religion.
Due to this issue, the Saudi Mullahs long opposed all the archaeological research in Saudi Arabia.

Everything that you have written is nonsense contrary to the historical realities and evidence. You have shown nothing to prove that you are right even remotely. Nor has this anything to do with the great Arabic language (which this thread is about) which is one of the most spoken languages in the world and one of the most influential ones among a select few. 1 of the 6 official UN languages along with English, Spanish, Mandarin, French and Russian.

learning to read and write as an adult is quite doable, I learned reading and writing last year

That's impressive. How long did it take you to learn it and did you learn it by yourself or did you get help from family?

Sad that we have a percentage of Arabs born in the West or abroad who struggle with reading or writing Arabic. Parents should make sure that they learn it. Arabic is a world language spoken in 60 countries, one of the most influential languages in the world, the liturgic language of Islam (1.7 billion people) and a language that many Western firms look for when they hire people.

I have seen many Kurds and Assyrians and other people who are non-Arabs speak and write Arabic fluently and their mother tongue is not even Arabic yet we have Arabs in the West who struggle.

Evidence? What evidence could I produce when there is no Single archaeological evidence present for the existence of Mecca before the Christ.

If any one should bring the evidence, then it is Muslims. But they could not, while there is 0 evidence of Mecca or any Ibrahim or Ibrahmic Allah in the old Arab.

* It is Islam which claimed that Arab is sacred land while Ismael came here with Ibrahim 2000 years BC, and well of Zamzam started, and they built Kaba, and Ibrahim sacrificed Ismael but the sheep appeared, and all Arabs are progeny of Ismael and they worshipped Ibrahimic Allah, and people all over the Arab visited Mecca for pilgrim ....

While Bible was denying this Islamic claim.

According to Bible, Ismael never came to Mecca but he was in the wilderness of Bair-e-Saba (present Southern Israel). And Abraham didn't sacrifice Ismael, but it was Ishaaq who was sacrificed on the orders of God.

Now the modern Science also denying the Islamic claims 100%.

There are tens of thousands of Archaeological Records present of all the ancient cities of Arab (thousands of inscriptions, tombs, idols, history books etc.).

But there is absolutely 0 record of any Abrahamic Allah present in all these ancient cities. Since Muslims claimed that whole Arab was once follower of Deen-e-Ibrahimi, and they came every year for Hajj in Mecca, therefore it is the responsibility of Muslims now to bring Archaeological evidence of presence of Ibrahimic Allah in all over the ancient Arab.

More barking without any sourced material.

Excavations from Makkah have found a city that is 5000 + years old. One of the oldest cities in the world.

Not at all. To the contrary.

No, Prophet Ibrahim (as) lived in Hijaz and had his off-spring there. Even Prophet Musa (AS) lived in Hijaz and Northern Arabia.

Arabia is mentioned by name in the Bible less times than only Israel.

https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Arabia/

All the SEMITIC Abrahamic religions originate from the same nearby (bordering regions moreover) regions (Hijaz, Northern Arabia and Southern Sham) that have been closely connected for 12.500 years (since the Neolithic era) culturally, genetically, linguistically and geographically, which modern-day DNA proves (Natufian skeletons and their DNA was tested in 2016) just as modern-day Hijazi Hashemites and Cohen/Aaron (most referred Jewish tribe) cluster together, showing a common paternal origin.

Not all.

Anyway this is a thread about the ARABIC LANGUAGE and not your unfunded nonsense that has been disproven by historical facts and in religious writings. Go rewrite history elsewhere.

Proof?
Even according to Islam there was no city as Mecca before Ibrahim came here along with Ismael 2000 year BC, and they were the ones who started this city after the first time water was found here in form of Zamzam (although this story of Zamzam is also false as Zamzam was first found by Abdul Muttalib only 40 or 50 years before Muhammad).

Arabia is mentioned by name in the Bible less times than only Israel.

It was only Northern Arabia, while absolutely NO description of Mecca is present in Bible.
On the other hand, Islam claims that Mecca was the most famous city in the Arab while whole Arab came to Mecca for pilgrim, and it was on the trade route.

Nevertheless, NOT a SINGLE mention of Mecca or Kaba in Bible, or ANY of the books written by the Jews, and even by the earlier Christians of Jesus Era.

Similarly, NOT a SINGLE mention of Mecca or Kaba or any mention of Abaraham or Abrahamic Allah in whole Arabia by the "Roman Historians" who wrote in very detailed form all the cities of Arabia along with the name of tribes.

This link is only about northern Arabia, but not a single time any mention of Mecca has been made or not even a single hint has been given about Mecca or Kaba etc.

Forget all.

Just read the classic greek historians who wrote extensively about Arabia couple of hundred years ago before Christ. After that there will not be 1% doubt remain that all the Islamic Stories are only fabricated ones.

You are posting nonsense once again without any knowledge and without posting any sourced material.

There was no distinction between Western, Northern, Southern or Central Arabia. Arabia is Arabia and Hijaz and NEIGHBORING Southern Sham, as I wrote already, have at least 12.500 years of common history.

That's all a lie. Makkah has had various names in history.

Your nonsense is already successfully countered below;

https://islamqa.info/en/204341

DNA has already also proven a GENETIC connection between Banu Hashim and Cohen. Thus collaborating the common descent from Prophet Ibrahim (as). How do you explain this fact?

Arabia is the size of India. Although Greece is not that far away from Arabia geographically, Greeks could by no means have full knowledge of Arabia. At most Northern Arabia. It's simply impossible.
