What's new

The American Dream Is Alive. In China.

Where did I say wrong about his comment?

How about you argue with him about nepotism?

Today's China was like yesterday's US , today's US is more like yesterday's UK, already at its peak.

lol, no. The fact that US still growth MORE THAN the UK says otherwise.

The point is, this kind of topic is useless in itself. First of all, being a millionaire does not make one "Improve" one self. Second of all, money are easy to make just about anywhere, depending on how and what you do to make it.

The fact that there are still people, Chinese included, willing to sell everything just to move to the US would suggest the US Dream is pretty much well "Alive" even for some of the Chinese, on the other hand, if people around the world think of opportunities, would they think of China? If so, then where is the migration trail to China goes?

American Dream or Chinese Dream is a "Pure" perception, maybe China have more opportunities than in the United States? I don't know, and I don't want to know either, but people think of US, even til now, are that it is a land of opportunities, that's why people risk their live to try to get to America, but I cannot see the same thing happen to China at least for now.

China is not an immigration country and we don't naturalize foreginers, When US first started fast development that were poor people and unwanted people who went to the states to build up the country. China now still not rich, we still have poor people coming to the big cities to seek their fortune and China now is the world No.1 place to churn out the new rich, (google and find it out), so it's not exactly the same between today's China and yesterday's US ,but the result is very similar,

You misread my point.

I am not saying China is an immigrant country, I am saying people don't share these "Chinese Dream" many travel to the US illegally and work and there are quite a lot success story for them to get rich. But there are no one in the world believe in Chinese dream so bad, they are willing to risk their life and enter China illegally. We have the migrant caravan in American, we have the boat people going to Australia, we have North African/Balkan refugee that spark the EU migrant crisis, but there are none happening in China. IT doesn't matter if China don't accept immigrant, it's matter if with people perceive Chinese are rich, then they WILL try to go to China no matter what.

I would disagree whether or not China is "No 1 place to churn out new rich" because to say that, you will first have to define "Rich" and even in a same country, being "Rich" can be of many level. For me, I don't feel "rich" but if you were earning what I am earning in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, or even Hong Kong, they see me as a "Rich" person, but in Australia, earning 100K a year is actually middle class.

However, if a Philippine migrant come to Australia and earn $45K working in an office as an assistant, he or she can felt rich, because $45K is a lot of money where they come from, but with Australian Standard, $45K is actually low income bracket. Just above the minimal wages.

My whole point is that China produces more rich people than anywhere in the world now, a land of opportunities, I believe that's the point the author of the OP article wants to make.

And I believe I cannot see people risk losing life and limbs trying to get into China.

You "May" be turning out more rich people, but the world just did not see it, and that is my point.

And again, the definition of "rich" is in itself, "Debatable"

China is not exactly like US 100 years ago that all poor and unwanted people can go and live, China is not an immigration country, non East Asian countries are, Japan, korean..that's the difference I was talking about . but anyway that's not the point the author of OP wants to make, the point is China now is a land of opportunities, great potential for every persoan even you are dirt poor now.

Well, that's your point, you are of course free to believe whatever you choose and I am going to say the same thing. But if you believe in taht, that's your provocative, not mine.

Read the OP again, that's what the OP article is about.

Actually, the article say Chinese are more "optimist" than American, not Chinese have more "Opportunities" or "Can turn out rich quicker" than American.

You can be optimist, but that does not mean you actually have more opportunities.

He just doesn't get it. He thinks somebody who risks their life in a tiny dinghy to get to Australia is going to be welcomed as an immigrant. Far from it. They get sent to some sh*t island like Manus to rot or sent back to their country. But they risk their life anyway with the chance they make it undetected. They wont be able to work but they are alive.

Key word - "DREAM"

@TruthTheOnlyDefense

That's what Australian Dream brought to these people.

I would say most of them are forced into that situation, but well, some of them, they deserved it.

But hey, that's just me.

We don't welcome anyone who comes in a dingy into Australia if you have money to pay these smugglers it means you are either a criminal, a terrorist, or an economic refugee, we have stopped plenty of Indians, Pakistanis. Chinese etc coming here, there is no love for these people in Australia.

Especially Muslims who come here and start all their religious shit, we don't want them, massive debate in Australia and now the government is going to stop all Muslim immigration into the country, which is excellent hope this happens soon, already too late in my opinion.
