The Afghanistan War Is Over, and Pakistan Has Won !

Oh God, not another thread based on rants. There is still a lot of fight to take place in A-Stan. You are dealing with a Superpower that is hell bent on remaining in A-stan. In other words, Pakistan appears to gain Upper hand in A-Stan but there is no way its has won the battle - there is a lot of water that still needs to pass under the bridge. This is the most dangerous phase of the A-Stan war. And I hope Pakistan leadership handles this very, very carefully.

this is all chest thumping , real victory will be if life of Pakistanis and Afghans start improving and both county embark on fast economic progress and becoming liberal societies like western countries.

Trump made it clear US will forever maintain a military and CIA presence in Afghanistan.
US will never reduce troop levels below 2.5K to 3K.

There will be no peace agreement unless there is a full US-NATO withdrawal. Trump made a lot of claims, his track record clearly defines that he backtracks on anything he says, anytime. America cannot afford more american bodybags returning stateside. 19 years of war would become 20 years of war, if american soldiers are still in Afghanistan. Trump couldn't spin this story around even if he or his spin-doctors wanted to. It's a zero-sum deal, all or nothing, and America knows there is only one way out. Regardless of whether they want to do it willingly or forced by it's own people, as it happened with the Vietnam War.

Exactly. The war might appear to be won, but we also need to win the peace, we need to establish a friendly government, we need to garner support for that government and we need to gain the trust of civil society and the shot callers across the spectrum. Afghans see Pakistan as people who are looking to take advantage of Afghanistan, we need to present it as a relationship with mutual interests and mutual respect.

Then there is getting rid of the yanks entirely - rather than their empty promises.

Reading this thread and after that reading Dawn.com and an Indian daily in Thamizh, I was struck by how much people want to know and say their guys WON something, whether there was actual winning or not.

Ofcourse it is nature of people to want to win but to just want to claim that, even if such claim can mislead a lot of people who are ill informed could be dangerous and counter productive. Nowadays so many news papers and channels (in all countries) seem aligned to a side and as a result have become unreliable. On top of that even analysts and experts let their opinions bias statement of facts and events.

Internet has so screwed mankind!

to state Pakistan won, who were they fighting in the first place? Against Afghans? Americans ? Nato? India ? who?
India. Only India. Stop trying to drag others into your pathetic attempts to open a Western front against us. Russia is not interested. The sensible individuals in USA only wanted to stop al Qaeda (though I will admit the Christian nutcases like Pompeo have seen other opportunities, hence those neoconservative types wish to stay).

Hindustan has indeed been defeated by denial or at least impediment of access to our western border. You're reduced to sending Jadhavs via Iran - we can deal with that.
