Saudi Arabia became head of the panel of the Council of the UN Human Rights

The Ambassador of the most criticized countries that it recognizes the status of women, minorities and dissidents took the head of the largest organization defending human rights in the world.

According to official information of the UN, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Geneva Faisal Trad was chosen to chair the panel of the Council of Human Rights from its 30th session which will open Monday, September 21. According to rumors, the choice had already been decided in June but had been kept secret until now for reasons unknown.

The main purpose of the panel of the Council of Human Rights is to appoint five officials who enact international standards, to choose the people who will occupy more than 77 items relating to the defense of human rights in different regions the world and to inform about violations on human rights.




But this choice has been strongly criticized by the international community who always opposed to countries which are not renowned for the scrupulous respect they attach to human rights access to such an important position.

"It is outrageous that the UN has chosen a country that has executed more people than Daesh this year to chair the panel of the Council of Human Rights," said the executive director of UN Watch Hillel Neuer. He also said that "oil, dollars and politics" that harm human rights. "


Among the most flagrant violations of the human rights committed by Saudi Arabia, there was the arrest of writer and blogger Raif Badawi. In 2012, his liberal statement on its website Free Saudi Liberals (Free Saudi Liberals) have caused his arrest and sentenced to receive 1,000 lashes for "insulting Islam." His wife SCSTA Haidar always attempts to obtain his release without success. She even said on his Facebook page that the appointment of Faisal Trad was a "green light to the continuation of flogging" of her husband.

Actually, the Nobel Peace Prize itself is ironic. The Nobel Peace Price was started by Alfred Nobel who invented the...dynamite to be used in warfare!
Apparently, the newspapers didn't take kindly to him and a false obituary in a French paper wrote, "The merchant of death is dead"". So the best way to change his image was to start a an award prize rewarding things like "Peace".

The whole thing is a joke, like most other things related to "human rights" and "peace" in today's world.
