Nothing to stop us from classifying it as such. Iranians have a 1800 ton 'destroyer'. A frigate is typically a destroyer although much smaller and not especially built to militarily survivable standards. They can perform all roles namely ASW/SSW/AAW where a particular role may get precedence over others such as ASW in our case.

Yup thats my whole point,

If the F-22P can be called as Frigate, then Kamotra is also frigate for most of navies. In most of the navies 3000+ tonne ships are frigate.

But the classification of IN is on European standards, not on most of the navies in world.
