Is this the first time when a democratically elected government in Pakistan is completing its full term in office?
If yes, seems like NS has finally tamed the mighty generals. Generals no longer dare to depose the PM.
There are many factors. It's not about taming the generals. It's Nawaz's luck that Raheel Sharif brought stability by hunting down Indian/Afghan/American terrorists in tribal areas, Karachi and Balochistan. Nawaz Sharif took the credit of this though the credit goes to our military leadership. Number two, yes economy was handled better than it was under Zardari. When there's improved law and order and people have food and money, it's not easy to topple the so called democracy.
As far as I remember right Quaid.e.Azam didnt want to promote Ayub Khan during his life time. Infact he wanted to freeze his carrer and wrote a little note about the then young gentleman, Ayub Khan and his political ambitions.
Just a theory. Practically it didn't happen, did it?
Because of him, we missed two chances to liberate Kashmir: one in 1962, when India was on war with China and then in 1966, when we lost all the terrority gained and a chance to bargain for Kashmir, on a table in Tashkent.
Ayub Khan was not Alexander the Great. At least he tried his best to liberate Kashmir; but Kashmiris themselves were not willing to get rid of Hindu rule. They stabbed in the back of Pakistan and supported Indian troops to capture our intruders in the valley. Please read history.
