Thailand Purchase Three Chinese-Built Submarines

What a mordern submarine can do without ASM? Laid mine?
THere are those good old torpedoes, which can be used against surface shipping and against other submarines. Some wireguided, other homing (including wake-homing). In principle, one could fashing a land-attack torpedo with a tactical nuclear warhead to take out navy bases. And yes, submarines can be used to covertly lay mines. As well as delivering special forces. And also do covert intelligence gathering against shipping, shore-based targets, air movements.

Just like Argentina.....
Chakri Naruebet remains in active service in the Royal Thai navy. She''s based on the Spanish Navy's Principe de Asturias design, but smaller. The few Harrier fighters that Thailand acquired for her were retired in 2006, she is now used as helicopter carrier and disaster relief operations. Not to mention royal yacht :-)
