If you look at it from their perspective, it would be bs if they gave Turkey the Patriots in Idlib after all the bs Turkey pulled with NATO and America and S-400, threatening to "show" NATO it can change sides for "interests".
Thats bullshit, we shot down a Russian jet in 2015 and as a result there were diplomats from various NATO countries who made it clear there wont be support of their nations against Russia, as a result the US,Germans and dutch pulled back their patriots. The Americans sent a couple of F-15 which they withdraw after 3 months. We were on our own against the Russians which the Russians were aware off actually.
There is no NATO perspective furthermore because NATO= US and what u forget is also that it was the US which til this day is backing the PKK in Syria, it might not as heavily as before but they supported them trough both soft and hard power (PR-Campaign, glutenfree freedom fighters etc and massive supplies). Furthermore Idlib is simply the latest example of the fragile dynamics between US and Turkey. Turkey hasnt changed sides because interests but it had to because its national security was massively threatend by the actions of the US by that time.
I think by the end of this decade NATO will cease to exist anyway but this wont be a problem for us since we dont really profit from it anyway and 90% of our defense industry nationalised which means that we will be independent.
Im not even sure why I have to explain this to you.
Also Turkey's presence in Syria is offensive and doesn't grant NATO protection. But NATO was the main reason Russia did not retaliate Turkey shooting down Russian plane a few years ago.
Russia didnt retaliate because it sees things more pragmaticaly, they were aware of the fragile situation between Turkey and NATO/US and were also aware that Turkey is on its own so rather then going against it they pursued a reconcilation which Erdo jumped on about 1 year later after the coup attempt.
Furthermore this is off-topic, the Jet will be built.
