Weird that the ground targeting pod is under a stealth canopy but the IRST isn't. I hope they can get rid of that bulging IRST and make the pod do that job, like in the F-35, otherwise stealth will suffer.

With the Current budget, i highly doubt they would go for that. Imho, it is better to use more established systems than taking so many risks. Considering the we are already taking, building 5th gen fighter jet fuselage and most of its avionics, and Probably engine for it.

We should always remember. We don't just want the engine. We want the ability to produce the engine, all of it, on our own, and in any quantity we want. This is the only way to export the TFX later on.

it will take long time to develop such a technology even for usa (20-30 years maybe) probably, they are going to develop laser guns for their 6th generation fighter which is develoing by boeing. But the question for the TF-X does this technology requires totaly different plane design, if so then there won't be laser guns on tf-x. air to air laser guns? no dogfights anymore

There is no guarantee that this will ever be implemented and this assumed that they will find a energy source light and portable enough for a plane but powerfull enought to feed this laser.

Military history is full of dead prototypes.

You guys are looking at the (misleading) picture and responding to that. It'll just be a self-defence weapon used against missiles. That's much, much less powerful than a laser that can shoot down another airplane.
