The first 2 months of each quarter Tesla focuses on exports and the final month almost all domestic. I’m seeing members of the Tesla community predicting over 40k domestic sales in China for September. We will see how it goes

Whatever, Tesla total sales here fall miserably, while BYD sees record-high sales of 60,000+ EVs and is keeping growing. Exports are not an excuse now like someone claimed about last month sales (first month of the season...lol...)... But anyway, good work for exporting more Chinese core components like batteries etc., to other countries. CATL, etc. will be very happy...


At least half of BYDs sales were PHevs, not truly electric vehicles, so the 60k is misleading.

And yes Tesla focuses on exports the first 2 months of each quarter, because Tesla only has 2 factories at the moment and demand is through the roof. They have no choice but to export until Berlin opens.

Chinese members here are going to look awfully stupid in a few years when Tesla is selling millions of vehicles per year and heading toward being the most valuable company on the planet……because that’s exactly where things are heading.

Remember in 2008 BYD announced the first 100% EV "World car" F6 that would leapfrog Chinese EVs into the world market leaders.

It's 2021...so how many 100% EVs does BYD sell to the rest of the world? I bet a pretty laughable number. BYD F6 never did it. The BYD Han EV apparently isn't the savior either.

BYD is the inventor of practical PHEVs, so what's wrong for BYD to dominate the world's PHEV sales? BYD is dominating in China's EV sales and will dominate the world's EV market soon. Tesla is just an assembly plant by putting together Chinese, Japnaese, Korean batteries and motors etc. and sell... They have good salesmen though...LMAO...

LoL.. Tesla started as a automobile company in 2003 while BYD really venture into vehicle in 2005 when they takeover a car company and start their brand for EV only in 2008 with their first EV. Who is the underachieved? 2020 VS 2021 what different it makes?

PHEVS are dinosaur technology and not true EVs. BYD only sold 30.8k fully electric vehicles not 60k. And yes Tesla China exports the first 2 months of the year because it currently only has 2 factories. That will change once Berlin and Austin open. Tesla sells every vehicle they make and demand is through the roof, so they have no choice but to export. The Tesla community expects a big September domestic sales number for China.

It was founded in January 2003, following BYD Company's acquisition of Qinchuan Automobile Company in 2002

You are right, I shouldn't give a Chinese corporation any extra credit for buying an established Chinese auto company (founded in 1988) in 2002 vs a few Americans in a garage hacking British Lotus Elises in 2003. I keep thinking the Chinese are competent...thanks for pointing out my ignorance.
