There’s never been an active insurgency in Sindh against Pakistan. It would get crushed immediately whereas in Waziristan and Balochistan the army has been struggling.

This is due to the region’s geography

Geography AND mentality!! Swat is also Pashtun and hilly. As is the Kohistan region of K-P. As is Chitral.
There is something very wrong in considerable part of Pakistan's erstwhile FATA region along with its counter part in Afghanistan. Geography explains some but then other regions also have hills in Pakistan and isolation too. You know the most mountainous region and very isolated region in Pakistan is Gilgit-Baltistan?? And yet that region is THE most peaceful and progressive part of Pakistan.

When the agencies do their job: We are being oppressed by the government, the government is evil, enforced disappearances, military presence, state sponsored genocide. Anything the government does, is seen as evil.

When the agencies decide not to do their job: We are being left to the wolves, state sponsored terrorism conspiracy, is our blood worth less? Why does it happen here but not in Lahore? Dolllarr games.

It's a lose-lose either way in the eyes of the people. I think going with the option where the state comes out on top is the right option.

The only solution here to stop terrorism from “Islamist” TTP or commie BLA is to improve the govt services in those areas and economically develop them. Essentializing this an ethnic problem will not help- nor will this discussion. Al cultures are not the same but in general, it is a rule that if you give people a future, they are less likely to blow themselves up. If you need to do a military operation to clear the area and enforce the writ of the state, then do it.

But talking about extrajudicial murders, forced disappearances and 1984 type govt control will not help you- it will only backfire in your face and create more terrorists.

A few tangent thoughts - establishment has real problems and challenges- instead of involving themselves with politics, they need to do this. Second, last ten months have set us back like a decade. Nothing would serve Pakistan more than if the PDM parties would all disappear tomorrow. Third, as far as Karachi is concerned, please fire the entire police department and hire locally. Watching the video of the police was cringe AF.

If you carefully lost all the demands of PTM, NDS, ANP types over the last few years, they go like this

*STET must remove checkpoints
*STET must not allow army to do operations police must be in control
*STET must not innocent ghairatmand locals

Then the locals do terrorism

And the PTM types declare

*STET allows terrorists to roam freely
*STET allow police to be attacked



It's the VICTIM MENTALITY being peddled by PTM, ANP, NDS, Khattaks Dawars etc



If they turned to their own people and said GHQ, politicians have made mistakes and we need to challenge that BUT our locals pashtuns are often scum bags of the first order and have been violent terrorists for years then everyone could work together to fix the problem and offer solutions

The problem is PTM, NDS, ANP peddle a VICTIM MENTALITY,
Declaring Waziristnanis as Angels, and saints and blaming Punjab, and STET for everything and anything completely giving carte blanch to locals for any terrorism, violence or backwards coming from them

Non sense. Firstly, I am from Karachi and raised Sunni. But this has nothing to do with Sunni Shia. And also MQM rose to power around 1985-86 but its back was broken by two huge 'operations' by Benazir and Nawaz starting early 90 and it was a pale shadow of itself by mid to late 90s. So much so for your '35 years'.

And even under MQM's worst days, the Urdu Speakers were not blowing themselves up in mosques and schools! I have a HUGE community in Karachi of relatives and friends and I have NVER ever heard of anyone being unfairly targeted by MQM or Pakistan's security agencies. MQM was a fascist organization under Altaf Hussein and did many things bad and was rightly crushed. But it was never the nasty violent thugs like the religious organizations which rose in Pakistan's northern and western regions. And the people of Karachi understand and accept MQM's cutting down to size. They voted for PTI in the last elections in large numbers. Urdu Speakers can rise above tribalism. Can't say the same about you know who!!
