its been only 2 weeks since the Peshawar tragedy and it seems that everyone has joined hands to disrupt the chance to punish the terrorists.

  • UN and EU is opposing the executions of terrorists on "humanitarian grounds".
  • Courts have suspended any further execution of terrorists despite their black warrants.
  • Zardari has instructed his party members to disrupt the military court bill in the national assembly.
  • the leader of Pakistani liberals Asma Jahangir is leading the condemnation and opposition to military courts.
  • Religious parties that took their time to express their grief to the victims & condemn their terrorist brothers in arms have openly expressed their hostilities towards military courts.
  • in case somehow the bill is passed in the assembly then there are indications that it will be appealed in the supreme court and repealed.
  • the Judges have also shown their displeasure over military courts encroaching into their domain and might take Suo Moto against this bill.

it looks like any "action" against the terrorists promised by PM Nawaz and Ch Nisar will stop at their words only.

there are two possible reactions from army over it with drastic consequences

Army forces its will on the politicians in the shape of overt take over of the state affairs.
Army goes back to Kyani era slumber and hope that the Peshawar tragedy becomes thing of the past.

There is a third option - 'kill and dump' will be expanded with a vengeance (which BTW really pisses off the TTP because they complain about their members being 'killed and dumped' in almost every whining press release they issue), and the civilian government is going to be asked 'nicely' to look the other way.

I think in either of those outcomes America would "win" again.

There can be a third scenario, that every institution does what its mandate dictates and stop poking nose in others affairs.

Honestly I wouldn't mind if the military takes matters into their own hands and push for that final dose of martial law. But then again the shaheed mentality wont make any positive outcomes from such a move to last long.

That's what zardari AKA Lucifer wants. Media campaign to expose the hypocrites and exposing their secrets will make them die out. Without the need to shed blood or kill infant democracy.

Zardari has used his Benazir anniversary speech once again by mentioning the "Billa" the cat (reference to Musharraf and GHQ).. the politicians kept quiet last week because the army was furious but now they are regaining their strength and it seems that there will be a staged protest by Lawyers and liberals against the military courts and any actions within the settled areas against the terrorists.

it doesn't necessarily mean that some politicians have special love for the mass murderers but its because they might be exposed in Karachi and other cities as well.

I think taking no prisoners should be the new order of the day. imagine how much time it will save the judges and they can spend their time on taking sou moto actions on traffic lights or size of the wedding dish.

Brother kill and dump only works,if you are killing the snakes head. Killing rats not going to achive anything.

I wait for the day when the people will start cursing the courts. All of our problems are rooted in the judiciary. It was the judiciary after all that elevated Zardari so badly.

What else could we expect from these ********* !!!!!

I guess, we are going to see more and more police encounters now. Since catching these animals alive is no more an option.

My point was in the context of the military courts not being authorized and/or the civilian judicial system not being upgraded/reformed to prosecute and punish captured terrorists. 'Kill and dump' would be applicable in the case of both terrorist foot soldiers and leadership, as an alternative to the military courts and slow civilian judicial process.

Also, don't underestimate the positive impact from taking out dozens (if not hundreds) of foot soldiers. Mullah FM and Adnan Rashid are running and hiding like rats in Afghanistan or some part of the tribal belt, it is their lower level 'operational commanders and foot soldiers' that give them the ability to actually organize and carry out these attacks.

.
It all depends on the PML-N whether it is ready to dump elements like LEJ in Punjab
With PTI on board it can get these things done even without the support of PPP-JI-MQM
The next 4 weeks is a make or break moment for Nawaz Sharif

This isn't the time to compromise. Patchwork solutions never work and have led Pakistan down this path. Kill and dump won't take care of terrorists in jails that are amenable to break outs. Neither will it be able to eradicate this cancer from its roots such as the cities and other provinces: it won't have much effect on scum like Sipah-e-Sahaba.

It is an imperative, in my opinion, in standing behind the Army in this matter - and the mandate of public opinion behind it.
