attacking an air base is an act of war ... without going into details who did it....

attacking a school, hospital, ambulance, university which are clearly marked to be so, is a war crime.......meaning its considered to be criminal even in a situation when killing hundreds of thousands of humans is not..... just imagine the depravity of people who think this can be justified on this base or that base......

It is to note an alert was issues throughout the provinces that terrorists had infiltrated, why can't we just seal the f*** border, attackers were young, could only speak Pastho(according to an eye-witness). Sad to see young people being brainwashed, some people are using poor Afghans to their gains, we should literally bomb these brainwashing centers. Zarb-e-azb alone will not tackle this cancer, NAP was made, unfortunately our political leadership hasn't given it much importance. I hope these innocent precious lives are enough to wake these f*** up, seriously. We are in a state of war, we should be in a state of emergency. We need to get aggressive and if needed attack these fuckers in Afghanistan.

I think if we look at it from the populations side there is consensus (at least among those of us who's heads haven't been rotted by militancy) that Afghanistan is the problem and it is from there from where attacks are planned. Last month saw dozens of attacks on border posts by militants from Afghanistan. Then the question is what is stopping us from taking direct action against the Taliban who have a haven in Afghanistan?

1) We can close the border
2) We can go inside Afghanistan to hunt down militant commanders.
3) Aerial raids and our own drone strikes in Afghanistan.
4) We can fence the border. I am sure family ties don't mean so much to our pashtuns as the security of their land and nation.

Why aren't any of these options utilized then? Till when will we keep seeing and blaming Afghanistan without doing a thing!

i cannot comment on border issue, never been to the area, but what i have read from here and there and some books is that it is a bit painstaking to seal this damn border, too many corners and ridges, these people lived and bred in those mountains so know it better -----
you know the truth dear, when you have people like Tahir Ashrafi on ulema council and Lawyers are dying to defend the likes of Mumtaz Qadri, how are you going to eradicate this menace -----
as in case of APS attack, an Imam provided his residency to the attackers, same in this case, they did not just fall out of sky, someone must have sympathized with them and offered them the place to live and get ready ----

After APS incident there was notification that no school/college would open without proper security. Now the big the institution the more the guards. Not that four or five are enough.

Overt military action inside Afghanistan is not a good idea. It will only fuel the anti Pakistan sentiments and give new life to recruitment of TTP. Borders can not be sealed. It's just not possible. There are three steps I think we need to take which will give immediate results.

1. Afghan government must pay a heavy price every time an attack happens inside Pakistan. We choke them and bring them back to their senses. How? Transit trade should be blocked for a certain period. Indian supplies must be absolutely blocked. A horde of Afghan refugees must enter back inside Afghanistan every time such incident occurs. At least 100,000 must be kicked out within a week. Airspace for Afghan bound aircraft should be closed. Fuel and banking services should be stopped etc etc. In short it must hurt Afghan government if an attack originates from Afghanistan.

2. We need to move first line of defense closer to Afghan border. FATA must be made a province. Civilian government infrastructure must go up and running. Policing, schooling, and town support measures should go up and running without further delay. We can not afford to keep one of our region in 17th century. With education and job opportunities it will be difficult for militants to filter through that area.

3. Madrasahs and Masajid which identify themselves to any particular group or sect must be taken over by government, with brute force. One statement by JUI-F or Mullah Aziz should land them straight in military prison. State must show its power. Signals of weakness only invite aggression.

Yaar they've deployed GSRs along the border. They were shown in Wajahat Khan's Mahaz show. Don't know if they've deployed enough.
