MARDAN (Dunya News) – Two alleged terrorists were nabbed on Monday in joint operation of the police and intelligence agencies, foiling a major terror bid in the city.
After their arrests, the security personnel seized two suicide vests, three hand grenades and weapons on their identification.
City Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shah Mumtaz Khan addressed a press conference today during which he stated that search operations were underway ever since attack on district court earlier this month.
It was told that another nine suspects were taken in custody during the operation today besides two alleged militants.
On September 2, at least 13 locals were killed while over 30 injured after a suicide bomber entered a court in Mardan and his vest was triggered with a bullet fired by a security guard who attempted to halt his movement.
The police hailed martyrdom of the police personnel who resisted against the bomber and rendered sacrifices of their lives for the protection of those inside and around the court.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited the hospitalized persons in Mardan Medical Complex later that day and was accompanied by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak and Chief Justice of the high court.
