well if its the same cell as those who did Mehran attack then their interest would be to damage or destroy assets of Pakistan Navy; it would be a very calculated and specific objective

the terrorists probably wanted to do that but got a bullet lodged in their skulls instead

They are not Navy "Officers" and neither were apprehended by Navy "intel", it was another agency.
Sailors are not called Officers.

There is big raid and not just two or three people arrested numbers are much higher and operation is still going on inside Navy, Plus few on them were trained navel officers. Purpose could be hijacking or destroy the ship...never know. But according to media ultimate reason was hijacking the ship...

but the concern is that some of the culprits are ex-navy....Navy intelligence, ISI and Navy top brass itself need to analyze the situation and ensure that any ex servicemen or active servicemen are working strictly by the book and not muttering ANYTHING that could even be PERCEIVED as anti-national

luckily those losers failed miserably and very fortunate that we caught 4 guys alive and breathing.....i trust we will make them sing like birds and get useful infos from them

our media is a pathetic joke....not all of it, but a lot of it - especially when its dealing with Breaking News

SSG(N) is a pretty fast reaction force by any standard - nobody could dream of comandeering any vessel. Now had the terrorists gotten through layers of security (hypothetically) then yes they can at least damage assets like what happened to those Orions @ Mehran -- which quite frankly should never have happened, it was a horrible security breach and it cost us

i think media is confused as much as we are. if you see the wall of Ehsanullahihsan on twitter ,from where mostly media is reporting, he clearly re-tweet a guy name usama who is the media head of new asia chapter. media is confused because ahsan used to be in ttp but now he is in IS chapter of asia called ahrar or something . its mean ttp is no more they are all same now from isis to boko to ttp. Very Dangerous but interesting how things are moving on.

That theory is even worse as it is being rumored that ISI planned all this to hijack and attack a US supply ship off coast and thus to halt US Afghanistan supply lines for few months.

And as someone who's served Pakistan in a Naval capacity do you think Extremists making inroads into the Pakistan Navy is a real possibility or has an isolated case been blown vastly out of proportion by the Media ?

It is comedic, especially when the claim comes from AQ. I doubt they have the ability to distinguish between ratings and officers. At any rate, this has ZILCH effect on infiltration in the higher command or specifically the nuclear systems. The launch procedure, authorizations and personnel monitoring and selection goes beyond paranoia and any idiotic ideas of them being taken over are well... idiotic.
