terror attack in xingjing 07.28

@cnleio : it seems that China govt don't want to be called unstable status country,

beside xinjiang war, the flanks fighting continue between opposing powers of high rank officials,

Authorities reported the incident a day later, saying dozens of people had been killed when knife-wielding attackers had staged assaults in two towns in the region.

It is unclear why the government waited so long to announce detailed casualties, though bad news has sometimes been covered up or delayed in the past. Due to tight security, visits by foreign journalists are very difficult, making an independent assessment of the situation almost impossible.

"This was a serious terrorist attack incident which has links to domestic and overseas terrorist organizations and was organized, premeditated, carefully planned and evil," the Xinjiang government said on its official news website (天山网 - 新疆新闻门户 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident happened on 28 July, but this is the first definitive death toll released by Xinhua news agency.

Xinhua says 215 attackers armed with knives and axes were arrested after they stormed a police station and government offices.

But a Uighur rights group says police opened fire on people protesting against a Ramadan crackdown on Muslims.

At the time, Xinhua reported the incident in the towns of Elixku and Huangdi in Shache county as a "terror attack" and said police had shot dead many attackers.

BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese police say they’ve finished investigating Monday’s deadly violence in the northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Hundreds of people armed with knives and axes attacked police stations and government offices early on Monday morning in Shache County, Kashgar Prefecture. They also attacked civilians and smashed vehicles as they passed, using roadblocks to stop vehicles. Car passengers were then attacked.

Police say they shot 59 terrorists and arrested 215 others. 37 civilians were killed and another 13 injured. 31 vehicles were smashed in the violent attack, and 6 were burnt. Police say they’ve confiscated a number of large knives and axes, and recovered banners that read "holy war".

The mastermind behind the attack has been identified as Nuramat Sawut. He’s reported to have close connections with the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, which has been branded a terror organization. Police say Sawut has been spreading separatism and religious extremism since 2013.

That is the difference between western amateur reporting vs China. They want to investigate, get all the facts in before reporting.

Western journalism is so amateurish. They come up with updates after updates. By the time you're done reading, you are more confused and unsure of the figures they released from earlier articles.

Good on Chinese media for delaying until facts are sorted out.

is it hard to smuggle in weapons and explosives into Xinjiang? China is very fortunate to have the mountains and deserts as a barrier.

The governments policies towards Xinjiang and the Uyghers are not working. I hope they can change the policy and give the Uyghers more room for their religion and culture as well as provide them with more jobs and other opportunities. In my view they are Chinese as they are citizens of the PRC. Obviously they have their issue's and that should be adressed.

. .
Most Uyghurs are natives of Xinjiang, they just adopted a Turkic language, especially those in Kashgar and Gotan. The original Turkic people are Mongoloid, don't look like modern Uyghurs.
And in reality, the Uyghurs don't call themselves Uyghurs until 1930s,Uyghur is an old name for the Buddhist Turkic people in east Xinjiang(Turpan and Hami),after the disappear of Buddhism in Xinjiang,no one call themselves Uyghurs. After 1930,the Soviet invested the Uyghur label for the people of southern Xinjiang, and they adopted it,in reality, only the people of Turpan and Hami are true descendants of anciet Uyghurs

Being Turkic has nothing to do with being Mongoloid. Turkic is an ethno-linguistic term and not a race term. Most Turkics are Caucasoid anyway.

That's rather wishful thinking. The Chinese government has done everything it can to help them find jobs, but do your remember the killing in Shenzhen? After that, no private companies are willing to hire them because the government will always side with the minorities, disregarding fundamental law and justice.

In addition to be educated in Chinese, the government has to ensure that its treatment of every citizen is equal and just, no favoritism towards minority. Otherwise, the Han employers will simply avoid them like plague.

My only conclusion is that the Chinese government is still backward thinking and doesn't know the power of people. All the government can do is to ensure equality of law between minorities and Han, therefore ensuring that Han majority employers are not afraid of those pampered minorities. Pampering your kids too much only produces spoiled kids nobody wants to play with.

Not really, the Chinese government helped Pakistan build Karakoram Highway long ago, therefore, making terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan easily infiltrate into China.
