Alcohol in the Muslim world

NOBODY knows exactly when Islamic scholars decided that booze was sinful. In the 1970s political Islam led some countries such as Iran and Pakistan to ban alcohol, although many do not and exceptions are made for non-Muslims. In some countries the punishment for Muslims caught quaffing are severe: 80 lashes in the case of Iran. Things may get more arid yet as Islamist parties from Indonesia to Tunisia moot restrictions on alcohol. The number of drinkers varies by country, but some put the total at 5% of those identifying themselves as Muslim. Drinking may even be on the rise. Between 2001 and 2011 sales of alcohol in the Middle East, where Muslims dominate, grew by 72%, against a global average of 30%. That rise is unlikely to be accounted for by non-Muslims and foreigners alone. The black market for spirits flourishes in Libya, while Iranians are adept at producing home brew. Could Islam become more tolerant of drinking? A handful of scholars permit alcohol as long as it is not made from grapes and dates, because these are specifically mentioned in the Koran.

I am not sure any Islamic scholar can say that alcohol is Halal. If he say so, he is not interpreting the Almighty but his own wisdom (if that is the right choice of word). As far the rest, its human psyche to find ways and justifications of wrongs doings to satisfy him/ herself. I would say.... at least call a spade a spade

What are the ayats regarding to alcohol drinking?

. . .
Anything that intoxicates is forbidden in Islam.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said if it intoxicates in large amounts than it is also forbidden in small amounts.

Any scholar that says otherwise is fooling himself. For the poster who asked of course.

Alcohol is clearly declared haram in Quran and hadith...
No muslim scholar is known to argue against it..
People do what they want, and tat includes muslims, many drink..but that doesnt mean its allowed in islam...
These articles are aimed at confusing gullible muslims...

Khamr or Alcoholic Drinks have benefits for humans (Koran: Oua fihi manafi'on linnass) , but the negative aspects it brings to the individual and society ( dependence, loss of control of ones bodily function mostly the brain and a tendency to excite the sexual instincts with not much control of the will makes it very nefarious for normal social behaviour...) outweighs its benefits by many folds, that is why it is haram in Islam.

What are the benefits? is an open question.

But the known fact is that alcohol is a bacteria killer, so it might be beneficial for people suffering from bacterial diseases or people exposed to them or to a bacterial infested environ. this is the limit of its use as I understand it. Most Muslims use vinegar in cooking (mostly with chicken) and it contains some alcohol.
To drink alcohol regularly for the momentarily pleasure it brings to an individual, leads to a very bad disease called alcoholism. So instead of protecting against diseases it becomes a disease of its own.

Raki alcohol is national drink in Turkey

alcohol is halal in turkey

That is because Kemal Pasha was an alcoholic who drank vast quatities of Raki. Kemal pasha lifted the ban on alcohol in Turkey and his favourite Alcoholic drink Raki became national beverage.

The prohibition of alcohol occurred in stages and [after] many incidents, for they [the Arabs] used to love to drink it.
The first verse revealed regarding the matter of alcohol was:

2_219.png

"They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]." Thus Allah makes clear to you the verses [of revelation] that you might give thought." [Baqarah:219]

4_43.png

"O you who have believed, do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated [with Alcohol] until you know what you are saying or in a state of janabah, except those passing through [a place of prayer], until you have washed [your whole body]. And if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and find no water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and your hands [with it]. Indeed, Allah is ever Pardoning and Forgiving." [Nisa:43]

5_90.png

"O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful."[Maidah:90]

5_91.png

"Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?" [Maidah:91]

So alcohol is very strongly prohibited in Quran as it take Muslims away from Allah and near to Satan. It is very sad that Muslims have forgotten what their actual purpose in this life.................

U cannot blame all the

May Allah give us all the strength to become a good Muslims .Ameen
