yes but it is praise-worthy to see he continued making records for 2 decades. Usually players form comes and goes and comes back but he performed regularly for about 2 decades

That is a great achievement....... if you see the records of other players like Ponting he too made similar hundreds and fifties comparing to Tendulkar. I mean by average when Ponting will play 440 matches hopefully he will also have 46 hundreds under his belt but the thing is, the way Tendulkar or Ponting performed regularly not many players can do that

And Sachin was always first before Ponting so he will automatically deserve more praise

.
The fact that not many peoples know is Sachin Tendulkar made his first hundred in his 77th ODI match. Those days he had a poor average of below 35. So that is a great achievement that this legend still stayed in the team and continued improving his performance and now he holds the record of most hundreds in ODI

Year 1994 was the turning point in his career

great cricketer but even greater human being...

being a superstar in india-pakistan is no easy task..handling the fame is very difficult....just look at VINOD KAMBLI , he was supposed to be talented at same level but where is he now...??

in pakistan also..AFRIDI and AKHTAR are the prime examples of FAME going overhead...i always liked the ability of AFRIDI , but somehow he always finds a way to disappoint..same with AKHTAR..

SACHIN is handling all this for last 21 years and going great guns...

oh well True Akhtar couldn't handle the fame....... but i believe Afridi is among the very few players who did not let fame over-control them.

what are you saying....ever since BOOM BOOM AFRIDI started, his battiing deteriorated like any any thing...even wasim akram was disappointed by his attitude ....today he plays as an allrounder...but a player of his caliber should have thrashed any batting record...

no........ he was a bowling all-rounder since day one

you guyz made him a batsmen and then batting all rounder but he repeated this in many interviews that he is more comfortable with the ball and the peoples want to see him batting. He loves playing big shots but end of the day he is a bowling all-rounder

And according to him after 2007 he decided to stick with the ball and master the bowling art first where he feels more comfortable rather than continue practicing batting. If you take him as a bowler he is a fine bowler of his class and ranked in top 10 since ages now...... (not sure if he still there) and his batting performance is a bonus only

Now little master is approaching 100, Centuries if you combine both Tests and ODIs

I think he has made 93 now and 7 more to go

India media hails 'God' Tendulkar

NEW DELHI: Indian media lined up on Thursday to shower the “God” Sachin Tendulkar with front-page tributes and predict the record-shattering batsman was not finished yet.

Tendulkar, who turns 37 in April, smashed the first-ever double century in one-day international cricket on Wednesday, pounding the South African bowlers with 25 boundaries and three sixes.

It was the latest achievement by the world's most prolific batsman, who has scored more runs and centuries than anyone in both Test and one-day cricket.

Tendulkar's landmark dominated the front pages of leading newspapers, even overshadowing the India-Pakistan diplomatic talks scheduled for Thursday.

“Immortal at 200”, screamed a banner headline in the Times of India, while the Indian Express ran a half-page photo of a celebrating Tendulkar with the word “God!”

A similar front-page photo in the Hindustan Times, headlined “200 not out”, was followed by an appreciation by Tendulkar's former team-mate and bowling great Anil Kumble.

“The way he celebrated when he reached his 200 epitomised the man's persona,” Kumble, an ex-India captain, wrote.

“There were no running laps around the field, no aggressive gestures, nothing over-the-top.

“He did what he always does. Raised both his arms, closed his eyes for a moment and quietly acknowledged it had been done.

“If the youngsters in the team can take even 10 percent of what he does, they will be better cricketers for it.

The Times of India highlighted the veteran's scintillating form in the last 12 months, during which he has hit 10 international centuries, including six in Test cricket.

“Treasure this new, improved Tendulkar,” the paper said. “He is, by far, still India's most valuable player, and will remain so till he decides to call it quits.”

Tendulkar, who made his debut in 1989, has scored 13,447 runs with 47 hundreds in 166 Tests, and 17,598 runs with 46 centuries in 442 one-day matches.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar rated Tendulkar over legendary Australian Don Bradman, saying the Mumbai man was the “greatest batsman the game has ever seen.”

Newspapers highlighted Australian spin legend Shane Warne's tweets as he followed the knock of one of his close friends.

“Nervous for my good friend Sachin,” Warne posted as Tendulkar neared his double century.

“Come on Sachin, my friend, get your 200. World record to please! you deserve it.”Once achieved, Warne said: “Yes, yes, yes! Well done Sachin my friend.

Congrats and well done! Awesome.”The Hindustan Times' cricket correspondent wrote: “It's never a good idea to try and speak for a whole nation. But on Wednesday it was a risk worth taking.

well in that case ..i am wrong....any ways i enjoy his batting more than his bowling....
