he is weirdly not from any dominant caste group.. neither reddy nor kamma

HE was a Brahmin.. That's what makes his rise to power so interesting. As brahmins are politically very weak in AP & TG!! He was made CM for a year under Indira Gandhi, but his enemies within the party got him kicked ou within a year after he became the CM

& that;s one reason why Brahmins in AP & TG despite being religious & supporters of the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement voted for the Congress in the past.. [Now After the bifurcation of AP, Brahmins in AP voted for TDP because of CBN's continuous appeasement of them+lack of options, those in TG either voted for Congress or TRS]

He was the father of the liberalisation of 1991!! He did an excellent job in tackling the Khalistan & Kashmir insurgency which had broken out thanks to the incompetence of the previous govt.s

In fact sending A.B.Vajpayee and Salman Khurshid to counter the Pakistan resolution on human rights in Kashmir was a master stroke. "

It is also believed that PVNR was very keen & wanted to conduct nuke tests in 1995, but had to drop them under American interference & pressure.

But as he wasn't a member of the Gandhi parivaar, he was forgotten by his party. Even after his death he was humiliated by YSR(the then CM of AP) & Sonia Gandhi. His body wasn't give the respect it deserved by Sonia Gandhi & MMS(who was ironically his protegé) & instead of being cremated in Delhi, he was cremated in Hyderabad

1991 was really a very delicate period for our nation as there was so much chaos, confusion and disorder in the world because of the cold war. USSR was dissolved during that period and Republic of India was standing on its own against all odds.

Those paying tributes included deputy chief ministers Kadiam Srihari, Mahmood Ali, home minister N. Narasimha Reddy, ministers Harish Rao, T. Nageswara Rao and Mahender Reddy.

Speaking on the occasion, Narasimha Reddy said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government would strive to carry forward the ideals of the late prime minister.

TRS MP B. Narsaiah Goud said Rao with his economic reforms brought global recognition to India. He said it was unfortunate that the Centre has not built a memorial in the national capital.

Congress party's Telangana unit president Uttam Kumar Reddy, party leader in state assembly K. Jana Reddy, the party's Andhra Pradesh unit chief Raghuveera Reddy also paid tributes at Gyan Bhoomi.

The Telangana government had also celebrated the birth anniversary last year, soon after formation of the new state.

Rao was born in Karimnagar district, which is now in Telangana, on June 28, 1921. He was prime minister between 1991 and 1996 and died on December 23, 2004.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao released a statement, recalling the late leader's services to the nation.

He said it was a matter of pride for Telangana that Narasimha Rao, the architect of India's economic reforms, was a son of the soil.

Hailing Rao as a polyglot, great administrator and litterateur, KCR said he carved a unique position for himself in history.

Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh also paid tributes to Narasimha Rao at a function jointly organised by the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh units of the party.

Addressing a function organised in Karimnagar, TRS MP Vinod Kumar said lessons on Rao's life would be included in school textbooks.

PVN was the best Congressi PM ever. & it's irony today that only non-congressis are keeping his legacy alive. It's a pity that this man had to go through such a humiliation moment after his death...& continues to be humiliated even now. Man's dead body was not allowed to be cremated in National capital with National honours. Neither his body was allowed to be kept inside Congress HQ in Delhi. Real shame...

True...& that man is hounded even after his death. The dynasty is very careful since then not to promote anyone with a bit of acumen. That's why you saw MMS as PM ahead of people like Pranab Mukherjee. & now you have nobody like Mallikarjun Kharge as the leader of the party in LS ahead of more established & seasoned congress MPs. Dynasty will always make sure that no one above Pappu's IQ will be allowed to stay afloat.

Since 2012-13 The Supreme Madam was behaving less like a politician and more like a mother blinded by love and with a single-minded agenda of promoting her worthless son, and every step she took towards that proved to be suicidal for her party. I don't think they are going anywhere with such leadership at the top.

But that's good in a way, sometimes it takes a moron to bring down a dynasty.

It is a matter of shame that the current generation (or at least the most of it) doesn’t really know PV Narasimha Rao and/or identify his contributions to this great nation of ours. The congress has made every possible effort to make sure that this man goes down in History as a nobody. After all PV Narasimha Rao changed the name of the Congress Party from Congress (Indira) to Bhartiya Rashtriya Congress (Indian National Congress) and rejected the candidature of Sonia Gandhi as the Congress President with this golden quote of his “Congress Party should be treated like a train where the compartments have to be attached to an engine belonging to the Nehru-Gandhi family or were there other alternatives?”

We will never forget its saviour, a genius, a legend and arguably the best prime minister of India.
