What's new

tejas wont be inducted in large numbers

indians waste no time into gettingin a comparison between JF 17 and tejas!!...at least we have the JF 17 operational as of now!!

so tejas is not operational ? so according to you those 2 squadrons of tejas at sulur are for exhibition?

India's Tejas fighter to get Derby missiles

A contract to integrate Rafael's Derby medium-range air-air missile with India's Tejas light combat aircraft will be signed soon, according to industry sources.
Delivery of the missiles is expected from the second half of 2012, following the final phase of integration tests that are planned for early next year.
The active radar- and infrared-guided Derby, which provides an all-weather, beyond visual-range capability, has previously been acquired for the Indian navy's British Aerospace-built Sea Harrier FRS51 fighters. Fourteen aircraft have been modified to use the weapon, said Indian sources.

India's air force has signed for 40 production examples of the single-engined Tejas

The Derby missile can be fired in lock-on before launch mode for short-range engagements, or in lock-on after launch mode for use against medium-range targets.
India's air force has so far signed for 40 production examples of the single-engined Tejas, but the service could eventually acquire up to 100 more in an improved Mk II configuration. The service is now evaluating more Israeli-made systems for the fighter, including additional weapons.
The Indian navy also could buy 60 of the Aeronautical Development Agency-designed Tejas.
The Derby contract is an example of the huge potential market that Rafael is trying to exploit in India. Company sources have described the nation as its current first priority, due to the size and diversity of its requirements.

There are no squadrons of LCA at sulur... there will be one by end of the year (production has begun i think or will by next month) and another by end of next year

.
I dont see any point to equipt LCA in large number, better use the LCA experience to come up something closer to reality

Tejas at present is very lethal and can carry an external payload of 3.5 tonne... it has all the features.. IAF requirement has raised from 3.5 tonne to 5 tonne..

At present MK1 is a good potent aircraft... it has got a good combat radius with the two external fuel tanks of 1200l ...it can carry a tonne of bombs or 2 SR and 4 MR range missile...

but MK2 is a very potent ... it think it has got a 40% increased in internal fuel.. which means 1500l and if it is configured to carry a 1500l in central pylon... guess it can carry 5 tonne of external payload.. which is almost equal to the payload of J-10... it has got all the electronics warfare and good radar.. a very very potent one...

i'm confused, does MK2 dramatically changed its aerodynamics``? how come it will increase 40% of its internal fuel capacity``its just nonsonsical!! F-18E/F is significantly larger than F-18C/D, with 23% lagger wings and 0.8 m longer fuslage`and yet its internal fuel capacity only increased 30%!!

If MK2 increases capacity to 40% the size of LCA will be at least the same size of J-10s and the wing area is going to be over 55 square meters, which will be as big as F-15s`!!

one of the basic rules of aeroplan design is to minimize unnecessary weitghts and maximis the internal fuel capacity!! if DRDO is following the rule then the current LCA has already maximized its internal fuel capacity!!

.
and another way to increase combat radius is to have much advanced turbofan engine, and where is the engine?

Well the Gripen NG has increased it's internal fuel capacity by 40% without major external changes.

General Electric's F-414 engines for Tejas MK2

You can only dream for that advance engine

.
ask DRDO. he will give you the link. or ask spark

LCA has just reached its initail operational status, still years away from fully operational capacity, only a fighter jet is 100% operational then can be trusted in real battlefield``

F-22s had been deployed years ago, however, it has just been 100% operational, and French Dassualt Rafale introduced in 2000, but until the M version is ready then it reaches 100% operational capacity``

you have to understand the difference of introduction and full operational status (to put it in short is 'you have' and 'you CAN use')

will F-414 increase the range to 40%??? please have a common sense!

p.s we dont dream, we make things happen``:)
