Tejas to get “HF” Designation by year end

What the Heck is this "HINDU"STAN doing in its name of Indian Tejas? How many times will you guys prove yourself to be a Hindu State? Common name it Hyder, or Mustafa, or Name it after somebody Sikh. You Indians are so Hindu inside but hide behind the covers of "Non-Relegious State, Hindu-Muslim Bhai Bhai". Phhh!

There is not a single armament that you could name after somebody non-Hindu or outside Hindutva preachings. Arjun, Agni, Prithvi, Hindustan Tejas.. lol... Were Mughals not Indian? Where is any weapon named after them? What about Sikhs? What about Cristians? Why Just Hindu names in a so called Secular State?

I know you were trolling... but will give you a reply anyways.

Agni, Prithvi, Tejas - They arent Hindu names. You are ignorant about Hinduism obviously.

Arjun - Well I give this one to you... it has a "Hindu origin" as you put it.

We have used our Mughal heritage as well while naming, as pointed earlier by a poster... but your biased view of India made you miss all that out!

Dear Sir,

Allow me to clear up a misconception.

The H in the designation of aircraft types brought out by manufacture in India by HAL is precisely to mark their manufacturers' name - Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.

The name Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. was given to HAL by its founder, Seth Walchand Hirachand Doshi. He set up the company in 1940 with the support of the Maharaja of Mysore, but with the coming of Japan into the war in 1941, Government of India bought up the balance shares (having been itself a shareholder).

The promoter used the name as it was the fashion in those days to use the words Hindustan or National to indicate a certain political inclination.

The earlier attempt at making a fighter plane, the Marut, was designated HF-24, the Hindustan Fighter 24, in the spirit of the Me109, or the good Doctor's famed earlier effort, the FW 190. Me standing for Messerschmitt, FW for Focke Wulf.

And that is all there is to it.

Regarding the ship-names, that would have been downright embarrassing, to have the same names on both sides of an evident divide. If you recall, the Pakistan Navy has taken care to appropriate the names Babur, Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Alamgir, leaving out two names from the dynasty for reasons not known to me; it has gone so far as to use Tipu Sultan. Presumably that was some famous Pakistani monarch of mixed Sindhi and Punjabi antecedents, who ruled over a wide stretch of contemporary Pakistan.

I submit that we would have been the butt of the world's jokes if INS Akbar had faced off against PNS Jahangir; there would have been inevitable cinematic wise-cracks, considering the famous Lahore wit that is legendary. Perhaps we are forced to abstain, in view of such large-scale appropriations.

In the Air Force, we have used names such as Akbar and Baaz, if those count; again, back to the Navy, we have used the names of weapons which are decidedly not 'Indic' in origin. Please look them up for yourself; if you have any difficulty, start with the letter T.

The Tejas Mark-2 expected to be developed due to the inability of the Mark-1 to meet the Indian Air Staff requirements,will have a more powerful engine, refined aerodynamics and replacing other parts to reduce obsolescence according to an IAF spokesman.[36]

The LCA's naval variant would be ready for carrier trials by 2013 and is slated for deployment on the Gorshkov/Vikramaditya as well as the IAC.[61]
