Tejas successfully test fires R-73 missiles

so did they use HMS atleast?

It was not one of the parameter choosen by authorities.

But this can be done simply without much ado.

Report says; Indian radar based A2AM are not performing.

The report talks only about R-77......What about the other missiles in our inventory?

What makes you think 1.2 billion people would rely on a single (R-77) missile?

.
@Majunisad !! Tejas fired R 73 and drop dumb bombs way before but this time it fires during opening its flight envelop and also its going to drop tanks at differnt Altitude and also jettison ..

Going by his logic and wisdom, India has no missiles since 2009(date of the report)- good for him.

This is great news! The Tejas seems to be performing very well. To promote local efforts, perhaps the IAF needs to rethink the timing of induction and numbers inducted. Bring it to service faster and in very large numbers. It will be extremely beneficial for the IAF.

You have a point there indeed. However the Indian establishment is obsessed with testing before induction; a philosophy of evolutionary design and development that they share with the west, most notably the USA. In contrast China wastes no time, the weaponry is inducted and tweaked and improved while in use.

R-73 was fired by LCA before also.....

This time it is done in Goa sea trail where the atmosphere is different, Hot and humid.

May be they want to check how a IR homing missile is doing in a different platform in adverse condition.

Didn't you read the link in my previous post?

Report says; Indian radar based A2AM are not performing.

Now tell me what next?

Use your head, the R-73 is not radar based missile.

Pakistan do not have any radar based missile.

Tejas will be way down the food chain in IAF...even if it eventually gets all the clearances...Specially when IAF is on a buying spree and taking onboard hi tech planes such as PAK-FA and Rafael.

I understand the importance of an all Indegenous plane which Tejas is...But still , is it needed anymore?

Tejas is more advanced than Chinese J-10 and Pakistan F-16s. It has low radar cross section, unstable configuration and advanced sensors. IAF has much higher standard like PAK FA, Rafale, SU-30mki, Phalcon etc.

Tejas using helmet mounted system this trial,

India’s Tejas Light Combat Aircraft is ready to undergo another round of crucial sea trials in Goa.

Sources tell AVIATION WEEK that this time the testing will involve the firing of a missile and the jettisoning of a drop tank. The trials are set to take place this week at Naval Air Station Hansa, Dabolim, in Goa. Tejas successfully completed earlier sea trials in September as part of its Out of Station Flight Test Plan.

Pilots from the Bengaluru-based National Flight Test Center will perform the weapon trials this time.

“The density of air and humidity is very high in Goa. This time during the sea-level trials we are evaluating the radar, helmet-mounted systems and instrument landing systems,” a source said. “We will also test the radar warning receiver.”

we are not at all worried about our missile working or not... we just wanna spend some surplus money one experimenting.. . what is the point in having missiles when u dont have any real enemies... and that too when considering.. all these missile will be outdated in a while...
