^ bro problem is not with scientist they are best and excellent . the problem lies with our ever great babus running the organization. Its true that tejas MK1 is a decent plane and MK2 will be better. but cancelling MRCA will be disastrous.

This step(of getting more Tejas aircrafts)might morally boost HAL to come up with a good AMCA.

problem is DRDO promises moon but fails to deliver a solar lamp . whats the need of talking about AMCA when they are yet to get FOC for MK1. will they buy AMCA form Abroad too ?? they should learn something from ISRO.

^^^^^I'm respectfully disagreeing,the Dhruv gave HAL the confidence to build the LCH,which till date has proven itself to be quite a success story and the good order book for Akaash SAM has pushed DRDO to pursue the faster and technologically superior Akaash.So Tejas might be HAL's other success story.
I agree on the ISRO being better part

^ thats what i am saying . DRDO should finish tejas ( MK1 and MK2) first then talk about MCA/AMCA.

i do agree with ur examples of Akash, Dhruv and LCH.

I must say, i underestimated the capability of mk2 but now i can just say, it will be a killer bird.....we just have to see the cost but even 40-50 milllion $ will be good....

This article is not authentic imo..NG and Rayetheon have been promoting their radars for LCA since AI-09...But we did not go for them for obvious reasons. IFF we will go for foreign collaboration , it will either be IAI or, Selex or,Euroradar provided they can come up with a solution by then..

So the LCA is no longer the LCA but the M-MRCA, but there is an MRCA tender which is also an MMRCA.. So what is the LCA which was not met by a mk1 req.. but moved to a mk2 req which is no longer an LCA but an MMRCA that was to be an LCA.

Actually it is pretty simple, but keep in mind that this is not an official statement, or press release first, so don't take every word too seriously! LCA MK1 is a light class fighter with a MTOW of around 13t, comparable to Gripen C/D (14t), but the LCA MK2 with the new engine and weight changes will have increased payload and MTOW as well. That means it hardly touches the medium MRCA class, similar to Gripen NG, Mirage 2000, that's why this article, or the author calls it like that.

In theory, one could compare it to the other MMRCAs, but pratically there is a gap in weight (and thrust) that you can see:

F18SH - 29,937 kg
Rafale - 24,500 kg
EF - 23,500 kg
Mig35 - 23,500 kg
F16IN - 21,800 kg

Mirage 2000 - 17,000 kg
Gripen NG - 16,500 kg
LCA MK2 - 15 to 16,000 kg?

Gripen C/D - 14,000 kg
LCA MK1 - 13,300 kg

I think medium is used for above 20 tons class combat aircrafts, thats why AMCA will be MMRCA.

I always wondered how an aircraft as tiny as the LCA would receive significant upgrades such as more powerful radar and engine...is there going to be some sort of redesign or an increase in the size of the airframe?

The LCA nose is quiet big in size, that makes the radar upgrade less problematic, the integration of more fuel tanks and the new engine will require some minor changes at the fuselage, so no major re-design is planed.

It can in PSG's head. and even LCA can go to cybertron with American help.
